OK, so I flashed the new firmware with the new Spirit Settings software.
That went well.

I'm trying to switch from my Hobbywing 50A V3 governor to the Spirit governor.
I have two questions for now.

- How do I program the Hobbywing ESC?

"Airplane/Fixed wing" or "Heli Governor Off"
Or are both possible?
With my V-Bar I left it at "Heli Governor Off".
Just for safety so the slow spoolup is always done by the ESC.

- When the Spirit is set for governor mode. How to do a throttle calibration?

Can the Spirit boot up with TX throttle stick all the way up? And send the signal to the ESC?
Then drop the stick all the way down to set the ESC low point.

With the V-Bar you needed to use an external power source first to make sure it was initialised.
Otherwise the throttle high point wasn't recognized by the ESC.

Thx!

Great!

Heli Governor Off is fine.

You can start the unit with high throttle, then governor is turned off so you can calibrate ESC normally as you have described.
You can check NOTE in the Governor section (manual) where it is described too.

Thx. Missed that note.
All looks good to go.
Now wait for the weather to pick up.

Edit:
Added my initial settings file.
Gaui X3, 6S, Align 460MX motor, 11T pinion, KST servos.

To tune the governor I start with the recommended settings from the manual.
• Governor Response: 3
• Holding Performance: 3

Like the manual says, I calibrated my ESC with the stick high on power up (ESC beeps) and stick low (ESC beeps).

With the Spirit Throttle Range setting, I was still able to tweak "Governor -> Min." for "-95".
The motor starts running at "-93", so "-95" seems perfect.

Should I just leave it at the default "-100" for electric?

From the manual:

"Throttle Range:
This parameter can affect output from the unit so you can finetune ranges
precisely. For electric helicopters this parameter is optional. But in case that
your ESC does not allow to calibrate throttle range correctly, you can do so
here.
For Nitro and Gasser helicopters you have to configure it always so the Throttle
servo range matches range for the motor."

It should work fine in both cases as the difference is not too big. You can leave it with -95.

Just after work I got my first flight in with the new software!

I have to say, I'm impressed. :!:
I started with:
• Governor Response: 3
• Holding Performance: 3

I don't see any weird side effects, so I'm going to give 4 - 4 a try next flight.
The governor was a tad soft with 3 - 3.

Rescue (Acro) tested a few times and staight up she went.

So far very happy.

The least we can do. :)

The 4 - 4 governor setting seems fine on my X3.
Tested it today.
I'm going to leave it at this for now and get some more flights in.

From before v1.2.0 I'm still fighting a small CW piro stop bounce.
I reduced "Pirouette consistency" to 160.
It makes the piro stop feel a bit softer. Can that be correct?
The ClockWise piro stop bounce is still there.
(Maybe a bit smaller bounce because of the lower 160 setting.)

Not sure how to fix this last bit.

If your rudder is holding well then you can leave it.

To fix the problem you can reduce Rudder Limit to the side where you can see bounce-back effect.
You can see improvement just by reducing it 0.5-1mm. It should be not reduced too much else you can loose necessary throw.

Mostly problematic is side closer to the boom.
