Hello,

In first, sorry for my poor English...

I will try to explain you my problem.

I received the unit two weeks ago and i decided to test it on a Gaui X3 i used from one year with a Beastx and a Brain.

First tests were fine and rescue mode (i use it in "normal" mode) is a very good thing for a beginner as me. I did about 30 flight without any problem but during the last flight, i did a quick tilted turn and activated the rescue mode during it : instead of reach an horizontal position, the heli tilted a lot and crashed. At this time i doubt i let the unit did its calibration completely...

I have no spare parts for the X3, so i decided to put the unit on a brand new MSH PROTOS.

As for the X3, i did around 20 flights without any problem but now, i check carefully the movement of the blades at the end of calibration, and i test rescue mode at the beginning of the flight.

This afternoon, i begin a flight in these conditions. I used the rescue mode 3 or 4 time in flight with good results. But, i activate it again during a tilted quick turned and exactly the same bad behavior appeared and the heli crashed.

So, i'm a bit worried because i have ordered you a second unit ;-)

For the both helicopter :
- I'm 200% sure the pirouette optimization setting is correct (same setting have to be done on a Beastx)
- I did bec tester analyse and vibrations analyse and no big deal
- No major problem noticed in the log

Configurations are as bellow

For the X3 :
- Motor Scorpion HK2520 1880KV
- ESC Hobbywing platinum V3 50A
- 4 servos Turnigy 306 HV

For the PROTOS
- Genuine Sorpion motor and YGE ESC (ferrite ring on its wire)
- 3 MKS 9660a+ at cyclic and MKS 8910 for rudder

I also activate rescue mode on the ground before each flight, and sometimes (not often) i have seen the swashplate tilt instead of rise on vertical position : is it a normal behavior ?

Please help me ;-)

Hello,

I am very sorry for your problems.

Behavior you are described is surely not correct. Swashplate must be always level when the rescue mode is activated.
It may fly correctly but if you can see this inclination even after initialization it is not OK.

Do you initialize helicopter without movement?

If yes, then this indicates that something is probably wrong with the unit right now.

Yes, piro optimization is working very same as in case of beastx.

Your setup of both helicopter is OK and very well tested with our units, so there shouldn't be a problem.

In first, thank you for your very quick reply.

Dont be sorry : even if the unit cause crash two times, it also save my helicopters ten times ;-) And many features are for me very clever. But it will be better if it only brings bailout instead of destruction ;-)

Definetely and since the first problem, i'm totaly sure any movement has disturb the initialisation because i take care of that very strongly.

The "bad" behavior of the swashplate on the ground only occurs 2 or three times (on may be 100 test) and i didn't know it was a bad one, so didn't make a video...

Is there something i can do to test it further ?

I have seen the units are still on backorder state so i think i will no receive the second one to compare soon...

Thanks for the info.

You can just start the helicopter and leave it without movement for 10 minutes. Then try to activate the rescue. Shashplate must be level after activation.

We will send you the order most probably next week.

Ok, i will do this test any times and i will carry on to fly with the unit.

If a problem occurs again do i need to send you back the unit for test ?

You can do this test even at home.
I do not recommend to use rescue as it can work unexpectly.
So first from all it could be fine if you can verify it before any flight.

Yes, we can verify the unit and of course replace it if the problem is there. This can be done in one day.
We are verifying each unit prior to dispatch, but unfortunately sometimes there are faults that we can't foresee.

To update the status - We have found that Piro Optimization was configured incorrectly.
So this is the reason for bad behavior.

I hope that in few days we can get reply of how it is working now and everything will be sorted.

In fact, on saturday,i reverse the pirouete optimization setting on the X3 but before it was good (i had a backup i didn't use because it was on another computer). I have checked and it was also good and the PROTOS.

And clearly, with a reversed setting, crash doesn't appear in the same condition : it appears directly when i use the rescue mode (not after many uses) and helicopter goes upside down, not tilted.

But perhaps you found the problem due to another mistake i did. As i explain you, i am used to initialysing my helicopters on a workbench in my garage. After i take it and sometimes i need to put it in vertical position to walk between the cars...

And you explained me it's not recommanded to move the heli after initialization...

I did 19 flight since you explained me that. At each time i initialized it at the place i take off, and don't move it at all after. I use the rescue mode many times and no problem appears. I will consider the problem will be solve when i flight 10 times more but i almost sure the problem was due to the bad movement i did with the heli between initialization and flight.

So, two another questions please :

- it's not indicated on the manual it's not recommended to move the heli. At the opposite it's indicated, in the pre-flight controls, it's a good thing to move the heli to check if the swashplate stay leveled correctly. So : what is allowable to do, what not ? It's not always easy to find a flate surface near a field and in my club, it's mandatory to plug the heli on a table far to the place we take off

- Is it possible, in a further update, to set the level definetely during settings with the software as for the Brain ?

I will let you know in few days if it's solved but i'm more confident now.

Thanks a ot for your help

Hi,

Now, for me, i can consider this issue is solved. I did 30 flights with any mouvement between initialization and take off. After, i did 20 other one, on the X3 and the Protos. I moved the heli after initialization but always with the rotor head upright.

And no problem at all.

Great news!

Yes, if you do not tilt the helicopter for longer time to any side, then it should work correctly.
