With my first Spirit I used the Windows version of the software and no problems at all. For my current Gaui X3 build, I decided to use the Linux version because my laptop is usually booted up with Ubuntu.
When everything was set up, I did a vibration analysis and it showed very high vibrations in the aileron axis. There was a peak of about 90% at approximately 2 x headspead and another peak at about tail rotor speed. The vibrations levels in the elevator and rudder axes were low. I also found that the flight log would not display either.
After spending time trying unsuccessfully to figure it out, I booted up Windows and redid the vibration analysis and the results were low vibrations in all axes.
So for me, the Linux software could not display the flight log and the vibration analysis in the aileron axis was shown to be high, but the Windows software did not show the same high vibration in the aileron axis. For now I am assuming that the Windows software vibration analysis is correct.

Hello,
both versions sharing identical algorithms and should work in the very same way. We are developing everything on Linux so what you can see there is 100% correct.
It is important to select same axis always to see similar results.
We will compare measurement on both platforms to be sure all is OK.
What difference can you see in the measurement? Can you tell me what Windows are you using, please?

I am using Windows XP and ubuntu 14.04.
The differences were as noted in my first message.
I checked the y axis vibration again on Windows and ubuntu and the vibration was much higher on the ubuntu software. I made sure that both were y axis. However, it is late at night and I did not want to run the heli at high throttle for a long time as I did not want to disturb my neighbours, so it was only run for a very short period this time. It is very loud when spooled up indoors.

We have compared both versions and found that there is no difference. Sometimes there can be huge difference just by changing collective pitch or tail pitch little bit .
If possible you can later try it again. If you can find something then the problem could be maybe in the driver for the USB interface.

Also, the vibration test was carried out on a brand new just built never been flown Gaui X3 so I would expect vibrations to be low. The main shaft appeared straight and the tail rotor also appeared straight. No wobbling of the shafts was observed. The test was done with the main and tail blades removed and the heli placed on carpet. The motor is 1700kv and I was testing it with a 3s battery up to at least 90 percent throttle.
I will try again tomorrow and I will make sure that I do not change any control inputs between tests.

I have run the vibration analysis again in both linux and windows and have attached the y axis charts of both. There is a definite difference between the two.
Also as mentioned previously, I have not been able to open the flight log in linux.

Very interesting, thank you for the report.
Are you using driver from the installer? We will try to replicate the problem.
Most probably you can't open Flight Log because Documents directory does not exist in your home directory or there is no PDF reader associated with PDF files. By default it should work with Ubuntu when Documents directory is still there.

Thank you for the information for the location of the flight logs. They were there the whole time. The flight logs did not show any high vibration warnings.
I checked the Windows program directory for Spirit and it shows drivers dated October 24 2013.
With both Windows and Linux I used the downloaded software so I assumed that any drivers required would also be downloaded.
