Dropped unit at Esprit on Tuesday and James checked it out, he found no issues but re-flashed it. I am going through the setup again, starting at beginning of manual and working my way through. Having another problem now. I set the subtrim to level out the swashplate, save the settings and turn off unit to make sure it boots up the same. Not happening. Every time I restart the unit, servos are no longer level. This is no longer any fun as they do the same thing no matter how many times I level it out.

I am using the unit with DSM2 satellite receivers connected as per manual and when I cycle the unit after setting subtrim, I do not touch the transmitter so nothing is moving via that. I have spent many years working with telecommunications equipment and computers and I have found that there is always the possibility of a glitch regardless of stability of equipment, it is just the nature of the beast. Not saying that is the case here, but I know it could be issue. Also spent many years working on air conditioners and cannot tell you how many times manufacturer would tell us they never had our particular issue before.

I did not actually describe the first issue properly. It was not that the settings changed, but rather the operational direction of the piro optimization reversed. Not liking this at all since I am now having to spend more money before I can even get the thing setup properly.

Also, any chance you can put up/down arrows instead of or in addition to the sliders? Really hard to make fine adjustments using a mouse on the sliders.

Well, James is working with these units quite a lot. If he is saying that it just works and he tried what you have described here, then I believe he is sure that it is correct.

I am sure that you know what you are doing, but everybody can make things wrong. Even when they are simple, you can just expect different behavior, but in reality it is working as it should.
I know even professors that are doing things wrong, yet they believe that they are correct. So their conclusion is that the thing is broken or something like that. The problem is often in misunderstanding principles.
This situation is occuring quite frequently when you switching from different system where the same thing was achieved differently.

You are right, that everything can be problematic, but if you are developer of something, you know what can be possible and what is not.

You can tune subtrims with arrows very well, whole software can be controlled with keyboard and shortcuts. So even subtrims can be controlled very well with arrows and next keys.

If you can, please describe step by step what you want to configure, how it was done and what do you expect. At the moment, I only know, that subtrim values are working differently after restart of the unit.

With more information I can tell you where could be a problem.

How you comparing that the subtrims are not working correctly?

When you change any setting, for example subtrim, you can see the green icon change color in the bottom left corner.
It changes from green to a blue icon. (A reminder to save changes before power cycle the unit!)
If you save all settings to your unit, the icon changes to green again.

Do you see this happen?

I have a swashplate leveler on main shaft. Using subtrim, level swashplate. Save settings and get the "settings saved" message. Turn off power to unit, wait a few seconds and power up. Unit starts up and the swashplate is no longer in same position as it was when adjusted using subtrim and saving settings. Not paying attention to blue or green, but just checked and yes, it turns green after save confirmation box.

I am attaching 3 screen capture files to illustrate what I am having issue with. Note the changing values of sliders.

Thanks for the info.

So the values of subtrims are changing between restarts of the unit?

Hi, miroker to clarify:
Do you mean that all 3 pictures show the moment the swash is level? Yes/No?
And between each picture you restarted the FBL? Yes/No?
Did you restart the software beween each of the 3 pictures? Yes/No?

I remember your first post, after blades hit the ground:

I noticed the swashplate is so far out of level I had to remove elevator servo wheel and reposition it.

I think, we need to figure out, if this is a mechanical or an electronic issue!

What heli is this you're working with? Some helis naturally sit at an angle (like my goblin 570) so after the swash has been leveled relative to the main shaft (in servo centering menu), a reboot will level the swash relative to space.
