ok, I have had these 4 spirit units for a while, in the package

decided to get started. installed setup for 10.025, launched setup for the latest firmware, it told me to update the firmware, selected update and selected the 1.0.25 firmware file


this is on macintosh running OS X 10.9.5 , spirit

started the update, selected the bin file... and

dammit!


spirit setup software "quit unexpectedly" during update


now when battery plugged into unit, no red light comes on. and spirit setup does not see the unit

what options are there. I searched the forum, could not find anything.

hasn't this ever happened before ?

the thought of sending it all the way to Spirits repair facility from argentina doesn't thrill me much.

i have three more new unused spirits running older firmware. next update, i will do under windows 7

on the same iMac, launched windows 7 (native mode, not under parallels) installed setup, and successfully updated the second unit of the 4 I have

what do I do with the unit that appears to be bricked?

i must say, with some sarcasm i admit, that this is a SUPER first time user experience.

Sorry to see your problem,

unfortuntely OSX and even OSX driver for USB interface is buggy in very latest versions and you need driver installed from our website (check our manual), else this can happen.
Because we can't fix these issues I can only recommend to use older, recommended version of the driver.

Fortunately the unit can be flashed again in the special mode.
I will send you private message with step by step howto instructions in few minutes.

All settings should be untouched.

Wow, fast response..., and happy to learn its a driver problem. I did not see this comment in the manual, my error!

Thanks again... So happy I don't need to send this back. I'll try your directions and update the thread with the results
