Hi there,
I am using a spirit RS at a 700 size nitro heli. setup: Jeti DS12, 2s Lipo power supply, 2 magnets on the clutch(1 north 1 south), spirit sensor, divider set to 1, gear ratio and Servo travel also adjusted, no bank switch used. RPM set to 1600rpm
issue: After Power on, initializing the spirit, engine start, switching flight mode for activating the governer e.g.1600RPM, headspeed raises often(>50%) to a higher rpm than requested (in this case e.g. 1730rpm) and remains stable there. Switching back to idle flight mode and then back to 1600rpm sometimes the rpm raises back to the value before and sometimes even higher, e.g.1850rpm) For the next flight after complete power off it's either the same or it's working stable at 1600rpm.
How could I achive a stable and predictable headspeed? The log also stated no issues. Thank you in advance.
best regards, Kay

Hi,
we highly recommend to use same polarity magnets. Then you can change sensor divider to 2. This could make the difference.
Are you changing flight modes so that motor is idling and then you will set for example 80% throttle curve?

...yes exactly, one flight mode for starting the engine and idling ~10% flat gas "curve" and then switching to flight mode having ~80% flat gas curve. Well I guess I realy have to consider to modify the magnets, I'll get back to this when I did this mod. Thanks a lot.

Hi there,
short update. I changed to two acitive magnets, but unfortunately it is the same behavior. Current rpm is shown at the DS12 telemetrie. Engine startup, little warming up at idle, switch to "flat trottle curve" which should lead to 1600rpm --> engine speeds up to something above 1600rpm and remains there, start hovering -->rpm remains roughly, more pitch for faster climbing -->rpm drops realy considerable, lowering pitch -->rpm raises and remains now at clearly higher level than at startup. It seems that there is no adjustment of the trottle servo by the SpiritRS at all. What to check next or any suggestion? Thank you.
best regards, Kay

I'm just curious, does the log still show no errors?

Sorry, for clarity: The log shows that the governor is engaged and otherwise all good health messages. No rpm sensor data errors

You can try to decrease Spoolup Rate if possible. This could help.

Are you sure that the gov is activated?
You can't just activate it bank by bank. I had the same problem at the beginning. I thought it was only possible for bank 1, for example.

@ZeXx86: well, I try a decrease of the spoolup rate next, it is at the default value at the moment. Any suggestion to which value? @Dan0111: Yes, the gov is aktivated and I do not use any bank switching. I only switch from a idle trottle curve(constant value 10%) for starting the engine to a trottle curve (constant value e.g.80%). Expectation is that this starts the spoolup and governing the rpm at the requested value(defined max. headspeed multiplied by trottle value, in my case 2000*0,8=1600rpm) I am not clear what exactly is happening, while switching to the trottle curve (flat 80%)it seem to work, because it spools up and remain at a speed just a little over the requested value e.g. 1670rpm. Hoovering with only minor pitch changes it seem stable, but giving more pitch it drops and reducing pitch a lot raises the headspeed to e.g. 1750rpm. I could imaging the servo do not move the trottle, its just the temperature and load of the engine that causes the rpm change. If that would be the case, what is prohiting the gov from beeing engaged? In the software and within the DS12 spirit menue the gov is shown as activated.
@Scott H: sorry, I only can tell about the latest log. There were definitely no "governor engaged" message but also no rpm data error or any other errors. only the "no error" info. Thank you, Kay
