Mr.Tomas,

Good day to you!

I am having difficulty connecting Spirit PC software via WiFi link. My Spirit pro is running with the latest software (V3.3.3). The link can successfully connect to the PC but Spirit PC program cant detect the unit.

I had tired on two notebooks running Win 7 Pro and Win 10 Pro, 64 bit with no success. I took some screen shots of the WiFi link data seen in the windows. Please see attached.

I know the link is not damage as I can use the web base program (192.168.4.1). But the connection is very slow and I cant use all the settings of GeoLink feature.

Please help me to diagnose the problem.

Thank you,

Amal

Mr.Tomas,

My WiFi unit is bit older version. Is that the reason ?

Is it possible to upgrade it or do I need to buy a newer version?

Hello,

if you are using Spirit Pro then the module does not require any HW upgrade.
But from photo of your module I can see black shadow around bottom resistor. This is mark of burn and very likely reason why it does not work.
Maybe I am wrong since it is hard to see it in a good detail, but it is not normal.

So the module rather require repair or replacement in the worst case. If you have a multimeter then I can tell you how to measure if it is OK electrically.

I guess you bought it from someone, is that correct?

Mr.Tomas,

The Blue LED will light up. And I can see it is connecting to the NB via WiFI. Also, I can get into the Spirit Pro via web browser (192.168.4.1). Only full feature Spirit Pro PC program could not see it.

If the blue LED lights up, could it still be burnt? Please let me know how to check it via multi meter.

By the way, I bought it from Spirit after I ordered the Spirit Pro unit.

Regards,

Amal

So it was working previously but not now? Since it has already at least 2 years old.

Can you tell me anything about black burn at the PCB?

Mr.Tomas,

If I am not wrong it was working till I update the SW to V3.3.1 and may be with V3.3.2. I cant be sure with V3.3.2. I was using USB connection for SW updates.

I cant say anything about the black mark. Since the module can connect to the PC, I didn't pay much attention to the appearance of it. I will take much better photographs on day time and let you see.

If it can connect to FC via web browser why it cant connect to PC program?

Regards,

Amal

If it is working with web browser including Spirit Settings configuration, then it is strange.
The module could have some electrical damage if the burn is really there.

There is no difference between versions.
Actually you can still load older firmware and verify it. I believe it will work (not work) in the same way with 3.3.1.
I can provide you link for Spirit Settings software too so you can try it if you wish.

Mr.Tomas,

I am not sure it is burnt. I took much clear photo with daylight and when the module is power up. Please see below.

Do you still see anything burnt? Also, I took some screen shots when it connected to the web browser.

Below is the error message when I try to connect to the PC program:

I was trying to roll back to an older version but Spirit Pro does not take older version other than 3.X.X. If you can advice a method to roll back to an older version other than 3.X.X, I am happy try and report. I suggest a version 2.X.X.

Regards,

Amal

Thank you for the details!

Unfortunately from new photos it is looking that the resistor is really burnt. Shrinking tube has even burned area exactly at the place of the resistor.
For this reason communication can be very unstable as the resistor has very likely very different value than it should have.
It is rather interesting the module itself is still working. I guess it was connected incorrectly for a longer time.
I highly recommend to ship the module for repair or get new one.

Mr.Tomas,

Please see below and advice my connections are correct. Also, please point out the burnt out resistor. Any chance that you can advise the value/ specs of the resistor? If so, I might be able to replace it and try.

I could not understand the reason that if the module can connect to PC and connect to web browser, why it cant connect to PC program. Aren't they suppose to work in the same way? I had been using it for quite sometime and never exceed the input power more than 6V. On my 450L it was powered with 5.5V.

By the way, I am planning to order another module. Is it coming with new version now? If I place the order, would you be able ship it out on the same day?

Regards,

Amal
