I'll try. I thought it's all about GT, but I see some other updates are there too. Will check.

I updated Spirits to 3.3.1 and the problem is still there. But I was trying to record this on video and didn't succeed yet. I'll keep an eye on that and refresh the thread when I get sth.

The error is not critical - Spirit either initializes fine, or fails completely, in which case I just reconnect everything. But everything flies fine.

Hello,

the problem with GT is because of other problem and is related only to GT - presently it is fixed in our testing firmware.
But regarding your issue I think it is related to some radio or receiver configuration.

Can you make sure that all channels are limited to 87%? Because this is required so that FrSky radio will reach 100% - to be same as Futaba.
By default FrSky is sending over limit values, so it could depend where your switch is during initialization. Changing range could resolve the problem.

@Thomas
- this happens on Spirit Pro and on Spirit 1 (red). Not having GT yet. I do have Spirit 2, made over 200 flights with it and didn't see a problem on this one.
- 4 channels (A+E+R+Pitch) are all forced to zero in the radio, with a switch, when spirit is initializing. The only non-zero channel is Gyro, which is around +50 in both helis (-100..+100)
- there's also 7th channels for bank, but in one of these helis I don't have banks configured.

So I think channels are fine.

I might be using non-typical channel order. My order on opentx is TEAR - and I always have to reconfigure this in Spirit whenever I buy a new unit. Could it be that some recent firmware in Spirit introduced some feature, which doesn't respect channel order? The problem didn't exist on previous firmware, and I have >1000 flights on one of these helis.

BTW, to clarify
- if there is a problem with Spirit initialization, it happens very early, right after connecting the power.
- in Spirit this can be seen later, after it finishes initialization and moves the servos - then one second later it goes wild, uses max aileron etc.
- but the problem happens much earlier and can be seen by the fact, that Spirit is not sending proper THR to the ESC. My Scorpion Tribunus complains with beeps in such case (with "no throttle" error), and my Kontronik just doesn't initialize. Then I know Spirit will fail right from the beginning.

After Spirit finishes initialization, it tilts the swash plate completely and now it starts to send THR signal to the ESC, but some non-zero value. This makes Tribunus complain, but with another error "THR not zero". Kontronik just doesn't arm, like before.

There was no modification in the recent firmware.

If there was completely no change in receiver, receiver firmware or radio firmware or spirit settings then it is really interesting.

I highly recommend to rather change channel order in the radio, not Spirit unit. In this way you do not have to reconfigure Spirit units and configure it just in the same way as Futaba has at a single place, only once and for all.

It might be also unused channel, but if unused/unassigned channel is sent and it has invalid data, it can make big problems.

Does it mean these channels are forced to center, right?
During initialization it is making automatic channel calibration. If this is somehow incorrect, it can cause other problems.
I think that problem is somewhere there, it would match exactly for what is seen.

Yes channels are forced to be centered in the radio, but this applies to AERP.

Hmm, channel order... very complex change for me. I don't. now hoe TAER became default in my radio, I never changed this.

But let me test other thing first - I'll reconfigure radio so all channels show up only in -99... +99 range in Spirit, just to make sure they don't go out of range.

BTW, had the issue yesterday again. And I realized one situation is very common - if this happens, and I recycle power on Spirit, it is very likely to happen again. Or even 3x in a row. I had it several times in the past. So I learned that after disconnecting power I wait several seconds and then reconnect. Then all is fine.

Channel order is changed easily in the basic settings page, where you are also binding to receiver.

I know, I just have several models and quite complex configurations in mixes, so it's quite some work to reconfigure in the radio.
