Hello,

i've just installed newest macOS app Spirit Settings on my Mac... the app is starting as always as long as Spirit unit is not connected (interface connected, but Spirit not powered). as soon as i power up the Spirit the settings app ist crashing within 1-2 seconds after startup. i've manually launched the app from within the package => pls find attached the result and the macOS crashlog (first part)... maybe it helps. full crashlog available if necessary.

nb: ... on the same Mac, just using Windows 10 under Parallels, interface connected to the same USB port/same interface cable/same Spirit 2 unit, it is working. upgrade to 3.2.2 went really fast.

Hello,

thank you for your report. The crashlog is helpful.

We are testing on Big Sur and High Sierra and it just works, even under Apple M1. Is the same problem happening also after installing 3.2.2 firmware?

Hello,

yes - it is the same after unit was upgraded to 3.2.2... it crashes.

SiLabs driver is up to date for Catalina (CP210xVCPDriver (5.3.5)) and i've tested the old Spirit Settings 3.2.1 with the unit before upgrading it (under Windows) and it worked without problems!

... even after reboot of the Mac it did not work first...

... BUT then i again manually deactivated Parallels (as Parallels is known to have always the fingers on interfaces) and i was able to connect to the unit with 3.2.2 (the same did not work with 3.2.1 before).... it showed all the new versions infos etc as known. firmware upload working & everything Ok. the same now with a different heli with 3.2.1 => all Ok, upload working. whatever it was... it is at least solved for me!

thx for your help, Tomas!!!

Great, at least we know this can happen.

Hello HeliMLM, hello ZeXx86,

I have the same issue on MacOS Big Sur (11.0.1 (20B29)), Spirit Settings 3.2.2.
With no Spirit unit connected, the software launches.
With a live unit connected, it crashes almost instantly.
It was working fine with Spirit Settings 3.1.0 (which I kept, by luck....).

As I also have Parallels installed (and it seems to be the cause), I would like to know the process to de-activate it.

Many thanks,
MM.

Hi MM,

what i did was: i've shutdown all my VMs (i have configured NO VM to be starting automatically), then in Parallels Control center setting i've checked in Hardware>>USB>>USB connection settings that Spirit interface ("CP2102....") is always configured to be "own Mac" (not asking) and not assigned to any of the VMs. (the same is available directly by clicking on the Parallels icon on top right corner of the screen >> settings >> devices). then i've rebooted Mac once again and once again checked that "Parallels Desktop" app is not running. after that i was successful with the rest as described above....

btw: since the first successful launch there are no more restrictions on my case... it's again running no matter if Parallels is active or not and even again in a VM (my Big Sur testing VM).

Thanks Michael,

I did what you did: in Parallels preferences, I specified that the "CP2102 USB to UART...." should always be connected to the Mac. Then restarted, checked that no Parallels thread was running, and tried to launch Spirit Settings v3.2.2 with a live unit connected, and.... crash... 1/2s after the main window showing status "connected" appeared.
:(

v3.2.1 has no problem.
v3.2.2 crashes when a live unit is connected, what ever I've tried.

I've joined the crash log, hoping that it helps....
