Hi,

First of all I know that there are already many threads and suggested solutions about this problem, but none of these suggested solutions were successful to me, so I thought to give it a try.
I want to build an Align 470LM with:
- stock motor and servos
- Spirit RS
- Castle Creations Lite 50 ESC including Jeti Telemetry (original Cable from Spirit) and white Servolead to RPM on the Spirit RS.
- Hobbyking YEP 20A HV SBEC as BEC for passing BEC Test, both two Servo Leads connected to Spirit (AUX and E1)
So after building and wiring I noticed “RPM Sensor data are too noisy” in the Flight Log and although I set RPM to 2000 in the Spirit Governor, Jeti Telemetry shows me over 2300 RPM!
Ok, so I read every single post in this forum regarding this problem, and tried to test out all suggestion’s, but none of them with success.
What I I did:
- Different wirings, as ESC cables right from the chassis, RPM Sensor opposite, ESC and Motor as far away as possible from all other components and playing around with the RPM Sensor filter setting, ferrit rings and cores all over the wires.
- Bought another motor (Scorpion 2520-1880)
- Bought another ESC (Hobbywing Platinum 60a)
- Tested different Motor, ESC combinations, ferrit rings, vice versa -> with all components I get the same errors in the Log.

So after spending hours of testing different components, I have no clue what to do next?
Is there anybody who “solved” the problem with the “RPM Sensor data are too noisy”?
I know Tomáš wrote that flying with this error can still work, but for the reason that the RPMs are obviously not correct I don’t want to test this during flight.

Thanks
Tino

Hello,

the issue is not in ESC or motor almost certainly.
It is only related to settings.

RPM noise is not issue as well usually.

First of all please let me know how did you set 2000 RPM? Was it set by throttle curve, right?
So that requested RPM is showing 2000 RPM.

Are you testing with main blades on? If no, then this is the problem.

Please share your settings, I cant tell you what could be wrong, only guessing.

What is Throttle Frequency?

ok, that was the problem. I checked the log after first hover and it`s ok now!

Thank you very much :D

I am adding my yesterdays experience, to this "solved" thread, because I have already explained my components here, I hope this is ok.
I had about 10 flight (just hoverings, because of beginner :-)) with the mentioned setup and no problems. Still with the "RPM sensor data are to noisy" in the log, but no abnormalities.
Yesterday i changed my RPMs for the first time from 2200 to about 2500 (through flight mode, Normal to Idle1) took off and suddenly had a RPM collapse to 1370 RPM, as you can see in the Jeti Log.

"RPM sensor data are to noisy" was the only entry in the spirit log, I change the RPM through flight modes (Heli Setup) an constant curve:

Anybody an idea?

Hello,

can you replicate the behavior each time? I recommend to remove main blades and try again at the bench.

Can you share settings file from the unit please?
Noisy RPM could be only due to very high governor gain values - for example Governor Response.

Isnt there some other throttle curve? I guess the problem with RPM is due to programmed Throttle Range is out of range ESC know.
But first I recommend to replicate the behavior on the bench which will be with no risk.

Hi Tomas,

No I cannot replicate the problem on the bench, tried it various times.
Attached is the config file, i set alle the castle settings as you suggest in your manual.
No there is no other throttle curve, only these 2

Thanks you very much!
