I'm just curious as to what people fly with?.......
I'm currently on Spektrum but i'm thinking of changing it up maybe?!
I don't want this to turn into a flame war on brands, but more of a positive experiences with your favourite TX, how long you've been flying with it? Is it a Jeti, Futaba, Spektrum or Frsky, Mikado etc, etc...
I'm also curious about openTx, as the capabilities of the spirits could be limitless!

I currently use the taranis X9D that I've had since new in 2015, before that I had a Dx6i but it was too basic for my needs and the receivers were too expensive.

The taranis is OpenTX; but I'd recommend getting a non-frsky radio since they tried to screw over their customers, go for a radio-master. I use FrSky only receivers, mostly the R-XSR as it has the ability to use SBUS or F.PORT (not supported by spirit, yet?) and it has telemetry that I use for all my models (only current sensor and RPM on heli). It also has the ability for 2 receivers to be linked together for master-slave, if you're flying big stuff.
The FrSky (and compatible) stuff is used by virtually everyone in the RC flight market, except heli fliers it seems, for some reason (?).

I fly Heli, Fixed-wing and quad (racing).

This topic will probably end in a flaming match; Ford v's Ferrari etc as these topics often do. Everyone has their favourite. Best thing to do is to talk to others and try their stuff at the field. Buy what your friends are using as then you can all help each other out when trying to achieve new things.

Frsky have completely screwed themselves by bringing this new access
protocol out as you can't upgrade the tx firmware and the accst doesn't work with it! I've had my eye on the radiomaster for a little while now as it seems to be better made than the jumper.
I've flown Frsky for about 3 years with no issues and i loved the telemetry and voice alerts. I'm coming from flying quads now, but have previous experience with heli's. More so than quads. I fly fixed wing too so the openTx isn't new to me, that's why i love it. Once you've done a couple of models it's dead easy to set up a new one, be it plank, heli or quad.

I definitely don't want a flaming match from this!......
just positive experiences from pilots. there opinions on there own tx's
I expect some bias, but all in all why it's such a good transmitter for them. Ease of use, programming, the feel of it in hand. Things like this?

I used to have all sorts of complicated stuff set up in the radio to do fancy things with OpenTX. Then one day I just deleted it all and re-did it as simple as i could so i could use the same 'template' for different models.

All my heli model settings are the same for each model, except the tail gain value is different for each heli (I use current sensors that call out the used capacity so no timers).

My quads all use the same model in the radio. Planes each have their own models in the radio as they need individual trims etc.

the only complex programming in my radio now is for the geo-link modes setup.

... i(we)'ve been on the same road ~1 year ago (after >10 yrs Spektrum... DX6/8/9, iX12).

the main players (here in Europe, heli flyers) seemed to be: Mikado, Graupner, Jeti, Futaba, Spektrum... OpenTX/FrSky not so huge, but very interesting to me due to almost unlimited possibilities. Mikado 'almost' only making sense together with vbar, Graupner in a very unclear status... 2 where off the list for me. in the end i've been comparing Jeti & OpenTX. both VERY powerful. the final decider for me was the great Jeti rc universe (products & community) and the perfect integration with Spirit. Spirit RS with a Jeti Tx and i.e. a Jeti or YGE Esc can be setup/tuned/adjusted from TX without pc - very similar to Mikado...

since the switch (2 x DS-12 btw) we've never again used a pc on the field for tuning or setup changes. perfect telemetry, logging, alarms and: spoken telemetry simply working as expected: "battery 75%/50%/25%/10%/empty<+vibration>" instead of "ESC two-thousand-five-hundred-forty-six-milliamps-power". everything you could imagine can be adjusted easily. and if it is not possible by default, just take a look a Lua. great mechanical quality... simply perfect gimbals. we're perfectly happy with Jeti (the 2nd one is btw used by my wife... she's flying helis too).

nb: ... even we're mostly heli flyers, my wife is flying some quads and i have a 3d quad and 2 planes. but >90% we're flying helis.

I've only dipped my toes into Jeti research, but from what i have read they are extremely high quality radios with great integration. In terms of just looks, it's stunning!. It obviously performs as good as it looks by the sound of it . I definitely think you get your monies worth with them!
Just out of interest, how much is it to unlock the channels to get 12 in total?

you could i.e. buy a Jeti DS-12 Spirit Edition (directly here in Spirit shop, as i did)... and this one does have many things needed for heli flying already enabled AND 16 channels support & quality = outstanding (here & Jeti forum)

I have YGE 205HVT on my Kraken 700 and YGE auerus 135HVT on my Kraken 580,and Jeti DS14 and
Spirit RS on both.
How do you program the YGE:s from TX?
I whent from Spektrum to Jeti and Spirit RS never regret that.

=> JetiBox... the YGE can be found under "Mx"... most important parameters can be configured directly.
