Finally got my spirit pro set up on my raptor e 550 using soko calibration system.I have a Futaba 16 s transmitter with 8 channel sbus receiver. Everything functions correctly with a big exception. Servos elevator or aileron slowly return to neutral when control is reduced. What did I miss in the setup?

Hi I have the same thing happening to my raptor 550, I set everything as per wizard. My inputs are normal if ailerons are pushed back and forth as well as elevator but if the inputs are not centered they centre very slowly. I tried to fly heli today but things did not go well, blades and boom totalled. As the heli started to lift off it totally rolled to the left and crash!!!!!. The swash tilted left as it lifted and did not recover as the swash was very slow to centre. I have read that sometimes fbls can tip on take off but never had it happen before. I have another raptor 550 with an ikon fbl and have had no problems with it. Is there something that I should do to prevent this happening again as it is rather expensive.
Thanks for any help with this.

Hi
Its ok as HeliMLM says,Maybe you start whith stabilisation on and stabi correction ticked,
in the expert settingst, that is not good? You have to first check viberations level in diagnostic
tab,run the motor without blades mounted and check if vibes are ok in all axis. When vibes are ok
you can continue configure banks, resque and stabi.
You have to tell us moore abaout your setup if you want some moore help.

... one additional point to what latjo already wrote: did you check stabilisation direction? does is work in correct direction?

Hello,

when lifting off you have to not move with the sticks. Right before you start the motor swashplate should be in the center.
If no, then this can cause tip over, because you command the model to reach some direction. And it will do so right when it is possible (during lift off).
So it is enough to not move with sticks during this procedure as described in the manual. This is similar among other units too.

I checked the gyro cyclic correction and it is in the correct direction. I just got the basic setup done and have to check vibrations etc. This is all new for me. I flew old 50 glow raptors with flybar. I'm now thinking this is a very sophisticated device and I would have done better with a simpler solution.

With regard to taking off with sticks neutral I don't see that anywhere in the manual. I always take off with helicopter pointing away from me in case there is an issue. This is totally foreign to me to spool up and don't move cyclic.

Hi rccrafters, just to confirm a normal before flight check is to make sure the sticks move the swash in the direction you command. The swash will be slow to centre as the gyros don't have heli movement to measure. That's totally normal. The second check is to pick up heli and make sure the swash moves opposite direction to any movement of heli. Sorry if that's obvious!
The Spirit flybarless system is as good as any system, stick with it. The concept of not 'Flying' the heli from the start of spoolup is a bit odd to start with but soon becomes normal. You get to feel when you should begin to intervene and fly!!
Rough ground is not good for gyros as the heli can rock but not move and things can get out of kilter a bit. Good luck!

Hi everyone thanks for your input. All the gyros are going the right way, I have my throttle set to 0 -30-30-30-30 which is new to me as I normally have straight linear curve, as heli is ready to lift it tilted left and as throttle set at 30% it just flipped on its side, All the settings in set up wizard were as should be, everything worked as it should, no stability or rescue set up yet. The grass that it took off from is a it long as grass needs cutting. Should I have straight linear curve until i get the hang of it.
Thanks

Trevor

I don't understand why servo return to neutral would be slow due to gyro response since heli is not moving. The transmitter signal back to center stick. It should return to neutral . Why does gyro not let it go to the commanded position quickly?
