New to Spirit and am configuring a Spirit RS (being used with a DS12) and want to use my Kolibri 90 HV-I which has the built-in telemetry.

I have the Spirit unit working with the DS-12 (testing with a 2S battery). Spirit Settings works, the model is setup in the TX, I can see the Spirit in Device Explorer and the servos are all moving. Now I want to get the ESC setup - specifically with telemetry working.

I've read all the manual pages I can find and have seen a few related entries in these forums, but I am still a little confused. Four basic questions:

1. What cable am I meant to use to get telemetry working? The ESC comes with two telemetry cable options, one with a servo style connector on the end, the other with a small JST (Spektrum Sat sized) connector on the end.

2. Which port in the Spirit RS am I meant to be using?

3. What settings do I need to make to get telemetry working - both on the ESC (I have a ProgUnit) and the Spirit RS?

4. Is there anything special I need to configure or install on the TX?

Thanks in advance,
Jon

Hi Jon,

i do not have a Kolibri anymore, but iirc: with Kolibri you basically have 2 easy options for the telemetry:

1. use of Kontronik v2 cable (see Spirit shop, small Jst, i do not know if Kontronik supplied cable is the same) goes from Kontronik tele port to Spirit Sat1 port. both (Kolibri/Spirit) are configured to Kontronik/Telme protocol like described here in the manual: http://manual.spirit-system.com/index.php?title=TelMe_Telemetry. the Spirit unit is doing all the telemetry.

2. the Kolibri is configured to use Jeti telemetry and is connected to any EXBus port on a Jeti receiver (servo connector). in your setup this would be the E1 port on Spirit RS unit. E1 port must be configured to EX Bus (iirc). the complete telemetry is done by Jeti Rex3 receiver (built into Spirit unit in your case). Esc telemetry is deactivated in Spirit unit.

... in both cases you just have to Auto/reset the sensors in your Tx... all telemetry items should be shown within some short time.

hopefully i remembered all correctly - if not pls someone could jump in an correct me! :)

Thanks Michael. That worked perfectly!

I went with the Jeti telemetry output from the Kolibri into E1 on the Spirit RS - worked a treat.

The main obstacle ended up being further back in the process just getting the KKCONFIG software working. And ESC firmware updates and ProgUnit updates prior to that. The sequence of plugging in power to the ESC and then to the PC has to be exact for KKONFIG to see the device. But all good now.

Thank again for the help!
