Hi,

please do not look at the swashplate. First make sure that channels in the Diagnostic tab - Spirit Settings are moving properly.

You should not change channel assigment in the unit - default layout should work always.
Only make sure that Diagnostic tab are showing a proper values, especially if channel directions are OK.

It does not matter which TX Mode do you have.

OK, I will follow those instruction. I have no idea if what I look at is correct or not.
When I look at the diagnostic - if I mmove the aileron LEFT, what should I see? Please consider, in my setup - Aileron is on CH3, correct? What can happen is :

1) That CH3 moves left, OR
2) That CH1 moves left, OR
3) That CH2 moves right....

You understand my scenarios here?

So, if the correct CH moves but to the wrong direction - I understand I need to reverse it on the unit, but what do I do if the WRONG CH moves, what to do then? On the unit?

Thanks again

if channel move in wrong direction in the diagnostic, you have to reverse it on TX not in the unit

maybe can be helpful if you look at this video: ( and following parts too )

OK, I set up a new Heli model and started again from the begining. Yes, I watched the vide before and I am doing exactly what it says.

CH1=Pitch
CH2 = Elevator
CH3 = AIleron
CH4 = Rudder
AUX2 = BEC
AUX1 = ESC
RUD = +/- to the Satellite
ELE = signal line to the Satellite

I am flying Mode 1 on my Spektrum DX9 Black. Please see attached pictures

The problem is :
1) I move the Ailrone stick - It moves the Swashplate
2) I move the Pitch (Right stick on my Tx) it moves the Ailrone
3) I move the Elevator (Left stick on my Tx) it moves the Ailrone
4) Rudder stick works OK, the unit is in head lock mode (I need to fix that on my Tx)

If you look at the first picture, Step-5, pitch is sitting at 104% and my stick is down. So, tried to Reverse it in my Tx, but it does NOT reverse it. The Throttle function is unassigned, but when I try to assign it on the next screen - AUX1 is not available in the drop down list.

So, where do I go from here? - I uploaded 2 pictures, but I don't see them here in my post???

First from all, please do not look at the servos at all, yet.
Only when you will see correct response in the software, then radio setup is done and you should not touch channel reversing in your radio. And then you should check your servos. But no adjustments to radio are needed in regards to channels once they are properly set according software diagnostic (bar movement), even if you will see incorrect servo movement. All will be set in the software regarding servos.

In the Step 5 or Diagnostic tab, just make sure all channels are moving properly and in right direction.
With Default channel layout in unit and radio it should work out of the box.

The only thing you have to do is to:
Assign Throttle function to Channel 1. Not to AUX1. Channel 1 is channel from radio. Not output port of the unit. Output port for ESC is always AUX1. But input channel can be different. But for Spektrum and the most other radios you should select just Channel 1.
That is all what you have to do.

So assigned channel's column will look like:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

OK, I can't upload pictures, not clear why, so I will try to explain it in words:

1) In step 5 I have the following:
Throttle = 1% stick down
Ruddedr = 0% middle
Pitch = -96% stick down
Eelevator = 1% stick middle
Aileron = 0% stick middle

2) Receiver channel mapping : 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 - All moving the correc direction
3) Step 6 CH7 reversed, Collective direction reversed, Cyclic and rudder directions are correct (see comment below)
4) Step 7, swash plate leveled OK and pitch stick moves in the right direction.
Not clear what should I do to have it level zero degrees? I check the box "Pitch Adjustment" and move any of th cyclic group, up or down, to get pitch at Zero degrees? and at this poing CTRL+S got the message it is saved. Is this OK?
Checked on both blades and made sure they are both Zero pitch

5) When I move to Step 8, the swashplate tilts to the right, the front blade goes into negative pitch.
If I move the Ailrone stick right, the swash plate move to the right, move left - it moves left.
BUT - To get this to work correctly - I have to have the Ailrone channel on my Radio to be reversed. If it is NOT reveresed - the ailerone activity is the wrong way.

So, what do I do now? How can I send you some screen images?

Thank you

You should NOT swap your radio channels after the initial setup!
Please take a look at my videos as it may help understand this process better.

Note: It is important to level the swashplate mechanically as best as you can and only make minute changes with the sliders in the leveling setup - that also goes for setting the blades to 0 degrees in that same setup - my video does not make that clear and I will have an update out in the next week.

Thanks Yufasa,

I watched your videos, part=1,2 and 3 several times. They are very well done, thanks for sharing this with us.

I changed the Ailerone to reverse BEFORE starting the Spirit setup and following instructions, when I tried to cancel the reversing, after Step-7 of the setup, it made the ailrone go the wrong way.

It seems all my other settings are working fine, except for this.
I also repeat my question about Zero pitch, I am not clear if I am doing it the right way and see no way of knowing if I did or not.

Looking forward to your instructions. And, at the end of your vide part-3, you say that there will be other videos, but did you do them? where?

Cheers

Morning, yes you just need to save any small changes you made in the leveling stage and you will be OK. I say small as you really want to mechanically zero out the blades as best you can while on that page. It takes a bit of time but is well worth it.

I really am not sure what is going on with the ailerons.
To go over what I do:

Make sure your servos are connected in the order showing after the orientation setting page - do not move servo wires around to try and fix expected servo movement - that is done later by reversing directions! See my video on that.

1) On the channels page I make sure that all the inputs from the radio moves from -100 to 100 and that they all move in the correct directions. After this page you do not make any changes on your radio.
2) On the next page (servo reversing) you make sure the swashplate moves in the correct directions and if not you select the check boxes to make sure it works - this is well demonstrated in my video. Make sure you move the heli and confirm the the FBL corrects in the correct direction. If not go back and confirm all your inputs and directions. You should not need to make any direction changes after this step!
3) In the leveling page I take off the swash linkages and activate sub trim. Adjust the links a turn at a time and get the swatch plate level using a leveling tool or the zip tie method. Once it is very close you can adjust the sliders on the setup page to make it as level as possible - this should be very small numbers - less than 15 typically. This is normally needed because you can only do full turns on the linkages making it impossible to get perfectly level mechanically.
4) With sub trim still activated put on your pitch gauge and then proceed to adjust those linkages again, but this time you turn them all the same amount in or out until the pitch gauge reads as close to zero as you can. Now trim out the last small amount by selecting the pitch checkbox - this will make all three swash sliders move together making it easy to adjust them the same amount.

Now do the zeroing of the tail in the same way, well almost but you know what I mean.

This will give you perfect blade tracking and a stable helicopter as there will be very little vibration from the head given you have good blades of course.

OK, I did all of the above but :

1) My ailrone needs the reverse in th Tx, and
2) As described earlier, my numbers do not start exactly at -100 / 100

So, Is there a way to completely RESET the Spirit and start the setup again? Please tell me how

Thaks again
