Nope, nor me.

Especially since when I turn off/on the tx on the bench, a fair amount of the time the diagnostics screen shows completely wrong channel values like -118 on all channels (sbus).
Theres a bug in either the spirit or the windows desktop software and it's been there for years.

If I failsafe, i throttle off with all controls centre. I'm ok with the damage.

Very likely you have two failsafes configured. One for Futaba/FrSky, one for Spirit. One of these are configured wrongly.

It's not in failsafe mode. If I move the sticks, the diagnostics show movement, but the values are wildly wrong.

It's very easy to reproduce. I can make a video and post a bug report.

The fix is to power off the spirit, radio and close the pc software. Turn on radio then spirit then PC software. Then its correct.

The order things are powered up in matters, but it shouldn't.

That would be helpful, since we never saw such issue. Very likely it is not bug, just something set improperly.

I guess you have some channels out of range. This could be the case if you have frsky, since there is different range from futaba.
For this reason we have profiles for frsky.

It can't be switched to off, but it can be reprogrammed easily.
In case Spirit unit will lost receiver it is very good to trigger the failsafe. Without Spirit failsafe in this scenario model could fly away without a control.
Instead it is safe to turn receiver failsafe off.
