I’m hoping someone can provide some insight into what I’m experiencing with my micro spirit.
I’m converting my Oxy 2 over from Ikon, and the cyclic servos are acting very strange for both travel and swash compensation.

It seems like it could be caused by something simple like a frequency setting or direction reversal being incorrect, but I’ve now spent several hours troubleshooting and am about to give up.

Problem: no matter what setting I adjust I cannot get the cyclic servos to behave correctly. The most interesting part is that the servos will move in the same direction(!!) for both positive and negative input before returning to center. Also as part of this I cannot get the swashplate to compensate correctly whenever the model is tilted in various directions

I have 4 other full sized spirits and have never seen this problem before. Additionally, just to make sure I wasnt going crazy, I put the Ikon unit back on a few minutes ago and it flies perfectly.

The only thing I can think of is that .a) its a really stupid mistake on my end. Or b.) the unit is broken... although it’s brand new so that is unlikely.

Anybody have any ideas on what else’s I could try?

For the record, these are the things I’ve tried so far:

- all possible combinations of servo reversals
- verified servo frequency and speed
- the orientation of the unit on the heli matches the orientation in setup utility
- transmitter is a DX8 running a new 4651T receiver via SRXL2 -> I’ve tried both a brand new transmitter model as well as the transmitter model from when I was running it with Ikon.
- the rudder servo and compensation appear to be working just fine.

Any help would be appreciated!

My understanding is that Spektrum SRXL2 is only meant to be compatible with the latest software / firmware version 3.0. Since it was announced that 3.0 has errors and will be re-issued, most people can / have reverted to v2.8. If, like me you have SRXL2 you have to wait for a working v3.0 which is in progress and should come in the next few days.

Hope this helps!
Cheers, Andy

Spektrum SRXL2 was impelmented in ver 2.8.1.4

Hello,

we have solved the problems with firmware update.
All SRXL2 receivers should work now.

Please flash this firmware:
http://spirit-system.com/dl/fw//spirit-fw-2.8.1.4df

Wiring diagram for AR6610T will be available tomorrow. For this receiver normal JETI Integration cable is needed (or you can make the cable at home).

It could be that your servos are not connected to the correct micro spirit ports. I know you said you have other full size spirits, but as you know spirit and ikon servo channel numbers are different.

Thanks for the suggestions guys!

Ok so, I tried two things out and neither had any effect:

Still on firmware 2.8.0, I changed out the receiver for a 4649T unit.

Then, I upgraded the firmware to 2.8.1.4 and tried both the 4649T and 4651T. (I’ve made my own plugs to connect the receivers to the FBL taking care to put the pins in the right locations relative to the uSpirit’s pin polarity)

The strange servo behavior was still present no matter what I did. It really feels like all the channels and inputs are just scrambled

Any other thoughts? Unfortunately I don’t have another micro spirit to compare against. I’m having a hard time telling if this is a software or hardware problem, but as I mentioned previously I’ve been using spirit units for over three years without ever seeing anything like this.

Maybe you can post screenshots of the general and servos tabs of the Spirit settings? Which swashplate type did you configure? CCPM 120° or CCPM 120° (reversed)? Is pitch working correctly?

Sounds like you could be using a V throttle curve as an elevator curve accidentally. ?

After another hour or so of fiddling with it, I just gave up and switched back to the ikon. I’m convinced that there is just something wrong with the unit itself and will hopefully be able to come across another micro spirit to validate that assumption.

I mean it’s not rocket science right
there is a finite number of parameters that can be explored and nothing I’ve done has had any effect whatsoever.

FWIW I looked into all the suggestions provided, thank you very much for all your help!

I have an Oxy3 using SRXL2 with a uSpirit and it's been rock solid. Other than doing a complete fresh install which you have done, I'm not sure what you might try next. I can send you my Oxy3 setup files if you want, not sure they provide any value though.

I'm on 2.8.1.4 (I guess) since my 4650T "fly-by-telemetry" RX is working great.
