I have created a thread on helifreak but also wanted to create here as well. I copied the text.
https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=847857
Flying my oxy 2 this morning, 1 pack through it, nice no problem. 2nd pack going fine until about a minute into the flight complete loss of control, no signal loss, no warning from transmitter nothing, heli just started to rotate as if it had no tail and then just climbed up, and up and up until I could not see it anymore. not good and scared the shit out of me. I spent an hour driving around looking for it and by sheer luck went into somewhere as a last desperate attempt to find it and there it was on the ground. Very lucky that it didn't hurt anyone or start a lipo fire.

Logs on the TX say no signal loss, and RX voltage was solid around 5.70 to 6v. I had fail safe set and I test this multiple times by turning off transmitter while on the bench but when I did this it did nothing and just continued to fly away.

So the question is,

What the hell happened?

Static?

Hello,

this is very sad.
Please perform BEC test. This could reveal if there is an issue with servos/BEC.
Unfortunately telemetry will not show any faster voltage drops.

Thanks Zex, I will try this. But the problem I am having is why the fail safe did not initiate when transmitter was powered off. The TX logs show the flight went for 38 seconds this is when I powered off TX then around a minute later I powered on TX and reconnection was made and logging continued but no input was received, throttle hold would not initiate as the log went for 2min 55secs before rpm shut off. Something prevented fail safe from working. Jeti TX, red 3 rx. Oxy 2 uspirit.

This could happen if BEC voltage will drop under 1.8V and Spirit unit will no longer operate properly. BEC Tester might reveal this.
The same outcome could occur when there are big static discharges because voltage is few thousands of Volts instead of 3.3V. Then it does not matter what you could do but electronics might no longer operate at all.

Telemetry from receiver shows voltage never went below 5.5v. If the Bec failed would uspirit stop working?

Telemetry will not show you any fast voltage drops that are between interval of measurement.
For example if it is 100ms long drop telemetry might not show any drop at all.
Yes, any electronics can't work without BEC.

Ok well everything is working now again. Could fbl be frozen during operation by static discharge or some other electrical discharge? It seems suddenly fbl stop accepting any input from transmitter. Only after cycling power it now appears to work again. I do not want to use it again in case it fails again. Is it possible that fbl internal electronics have been damaged from static or electric discharge causing intermittent functioning?

Is there no answer for this?

Hello,

yes, as FBL unit and other electronics could be in any condition, including frozen if hit by static discharge.
The same apply if BEC voltage will drop just under 1.8V but not enough for resetting the electronics.

We have no case when the Spirit unit was damaged by static discharge. It is possible but very improbable.
