Hi guys,

Basically I have 2 main problems:

1) I have on the vlog data rpm noise data are too noisy ( I ve tried to put ferrite and isolate the rpm lead already but it doesn’t change anything).
2) I can’t set properly rpm on the governor spirit setting.
I set 2600 maxspeed and when my throttle curve is 100% I reached 2600rpm, which is right.
But when I set the throttle curve at 90% it doesn’t go at 2300 like it suppose to but it goes at 2500.
I can’t understand why at 100% the rpm are right and when Is 90% are not.

I am going to give up soon and using the external governor.
What are you using?

p.s. forgot to mention that my esc is a castle 120hv.

Hi,

when you are measuring, are you measuring with main blades on?
If Governor Response is too high the RPM might be also higher, because it acts are feed forward. But values around 5 should be fine.
If testing without blades, then your collective pitch should be in the middle.

Sadly the RPM noise can cause actually all the issues with Governor, since without precise RPM readout it is like driving a car without seeing at the road.
Normally it should just work because ESC should provide good and stable RPM signal.

Very important is that the ESC is doing all the commands without a delay so maybe we can check ESC/motor settings.

You can try to set Slow Spoolup rate, this can help.

Hi thomas,

thank you so much for your kind help like usual!
I ve thought to reset the castle esc aswell and now I can't be able to arm the esc anymore. I ve tried to turn on the castle with full throttle but even if it does some beep, it's not working properly.

I have found few topics where people were asking help about setting it with spirit.
Could you please link me the most recent guide about it?
there was this one https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=718067
but it looks pretty old.
What's the right procedure to set the esc with the spirit? Can't find anything around here.

Regards

mattia

Hi,

each ESC is unfortunately different. Sadly Castle is behaving very differently than any other and it require special programming of the Throttle Range.
The only things you have to do is to set this:
http://manual.spirit-system.com/index.p ... Castle_ESC

Did you enabled Link-Live feature? This should be disabled when not using Telem CC cable. Make sure that Castle Telemetry is turned off in the Spirit Settings.

Hi Thomas,

thank you for your reply.

I will do like as you said But I can't understand If I need to set max & min on the castle before and than do it through spirit.
Few years ago there was a procedure where you had to switch on castle setting from ext governor to fix end points. Now I don't need to do that anymore?

So I simple check that on diagnostic tab there is 0/+100 on thr and than simply put that range?

What if it won't arm?

Thank you.

Hi,

you only have to set Min & Max range because castle has this pre-programmed. So to match Spirit with the ESC it has to be same.
Yes, diagnostic tab should match so that there is 0 - 100% too. But this is just radio side and is not directly related with the ESC at all.

Hi there!
Yesterday I ve tried to put min and max of default but it didn't arm.
What I did in the end was:

1) set a curve 0-100% on my tx which max 0-100 on diagnostic tab of the spirit
2) stick of the full throttle at max, and power on the esc.
3) increased max urange of the spirit governor untill the esc beeped
3) stick of the tx at min and decreased the min urange of the spirit.

with this settings esc it's arming and seems work fine.
it is ok like that or they must be the pre-configured min and max there are on the manua of the spirit?

thank you

That is great!

With this procedure you do not have to change anything regarding ranges.
Actually it shouldn't be changed anymore.

It is just important that when doing this procedure Spirit Governor must be turned off. Then after this you can enable it again.

I have done it but with governor enabled.
Do you think it’s better to re-do it again with gov off?

Thanks

Yes, definitively. Otherwise it can't work properly.
