Hi. I'm just setting up:
  • Spirit Pro,
  • WiFi Link for it
  • ESC HobbyWing Platinum V4 120
  • Spektrum SPM4649T
  • DSMX satellite (will add soon)

I want to use telemetry, Spektrum integration and the governor too.

I'm confused, as it seems I have to connect ESC RPM signal and Spektrum SRXL both to same port - ail/pitch/ele - is this correct? (will need to hack some wires if this is true).

Also confused, why signal wire for SRXL has to be moved from RUD port to ail/pitch/ele to use Spektrum integration?

Also, the manual states I have to use the female port of the SPM4649T - aren't these two ports it has same?

Could you please confirm if my diagram is correct?

Excuse me too many questions :)

Hello,

your diagram is looking correct.

You are right that RPM cable from the ESC is connected at the same position, but only one pin is actually needed (PIT pin - middle).
While SPM4649T require AIL pin. We can offer single pin plastics which you can use instead of classic servo connectors. This will then allow to connect/disconnect both things separately.
AIL pin is required, because this pin allow bi-directional data transfer.

Yes, both ends of the SPM4649T are basically same, one has just different servo plug. But you can use both for the same purpose.

Thanks, this clarifies things. I will look for these single pin plastics here locally, as I want to get it running fast.

One more question, not really related to Spirit but maybe you have experience. It seems the easiest way would be to run the RPM cable from ESC to the receiver, split wires there, then power the receiver with + and - from RPM, and then take the 3rd RPM signal wire and 4649 signal wire and send them together as one 2-wire cable to the Spirit, connected to ELE/PIT/AIL. This way there is one cable less from the Spirit to the receiver (long way in my case). The RUD would be unconnected then.

But can the receiver by powered from HobbyWing RPM? Is it safe, same as BEC?

I checked with multimeter and I'm pretty sure power wires in BEC and RPM outputs of the ESC are same thing. But still wondering if I can power the receiver directly from BEC instead of going over the Spirit. Are the power lines of the Spirit direct output of what it gets from BEC, or does it affect the voltage in any way?

Ok, I figured out it must be same thing, there's no way flybarless would modify the voltage in any. Excuse me dumb questions ;)

Hello,

you are right. But it could be better to connect both BEC leads to the unit as close to servos as possible. This apply especially for a bigger models where current draw is high.
Description of the BEC leads should be always in manual of the ESC.
