Hi there,
I want to use a Spektrum telemetry receiver AR6600T with a DX8 (gen1). Since I have an old transmitter there is no option for the new integration setup. Only the standard PWM setup would work. In this setup the trottle ESC has to be hooked up at the receiver.

If I want to use the governor function, the manual says, ESC must go on AUX-connector on the Spirit Pro.
But there is already the gyro gain
Bank switching works through CH7 on AUX2

Can I adjust gyro gain in my receiver and use a mixer to get the rescue function on bank 2 ? :?:

Thanks in advance
Klufti

Hi,

unfortunately governor can't be used with PWM connection. Only with digital connections such as Spektrum satellites or SPM4649T or AR7700 (or any other SRXL receiver).

Yes, you can configure Gyro Gain in the software directly for Bank 2 so that it has negative value. In that case Rescue will be activated.
First you have to unassign the Gyro Gain. You can proceed according this guide:

Thanks for the quick response.

So the brand new SPM4649T would be my solution.
It works with a DX8 gen1, connects to the Spirit Pro via SRXL (govenor will be active) and I can see voltage and/or rpm.

This would be very comfortable to setup a new heli and then use the 4649T on the next project 8-)

You are welcome.

Yes, if you will buy a new Spektrum transmitter sometime in the future, then you can use full integration/telemetry with Spirit units.

From the Spektrum website:

"Spektrum enthusiasts with telemetry capable transmitters such as the DX6, DX8, DX9 or DX18 can now receive on-demand telemetry data, and by using the voice functionality of compatible G2 transmitters, can have specific telemetry data outputted via the on-board audio system."

So I ordered the 4649T-Receiver and it came in today.
I could bind it to my DX8 (gen1), changed the protocol under "General - Receiver" to SRXL/SUMD on the Spirit Pro and hooked the receiver to port RUD as shown under Point 8 (page 19) in the manual.

Unfortunately under "Diagnostic" I cannot see any movement on any channel. :(

I updated the receiver to V1.1, but no change.
I tested also a hookup with a "Jeti-adapter" as shown under Spektrum Integragtion, but since I use an "old" DX8, it didn't work.

Is there any advice to make it work?

Hello,

you have to proceed according the Spektrum Integration guide.
There you can see that the receiver you have to select is Spektrum DSM2/X. With SRXL/SUMD it will not work, because it is not transmitting the channel data over SRXL, just telemetry.

Obviously I didn't read the manual far enough

I can controll now all 7 channels through the DX8 and all servos work well with the receiver setting at "DSMX".

With the regular procedure, switch on tx and than power up the model, the receiver starts up in binding mode (fast blinking).
I can switch the tx of and bind again or unplug the special adapter from the rx and reconnect it after the Spirit system is fully initialized. I read about this issue in RCgroup.com and wasn't aware, I would need this very soon.
I have to check again for the appropriate post again.

Thank you for your great support.

Sorry for still not reading the manual until the end. :( I promisse to do better.

Everyting works fine now.
I'm able to hook up an external rpm-sensor and test the governor feature.
So far I'm not shure if there will be any reading of the rpm on the DX8. :?

Thanks for the assistance!

No problem. We are here to help you.

Unfortunately DX8 gen 1 is not supported for telemetry/integration but you might be able to see at least RX Voltage from the receiver at the moment - you can connect the BEC voltage to measuring port of the receiver and it can work. Theoretically Spektrum can add the support in a new update.
At least few variables of the telemetry should be possible to add from our side, so in near future you can see it working also on your radio with the current setup.

If you will need it urgently, we can prepare firmware for you.
