Hello

TREX 500 ESP 3G FLYBARLESS SYSTEM / KX017012T (2011) / SPIRIT PRO
RX Frsky TFR8SB in sbus / beak plugged into receptor # 3 of the receiver / extra power cable connected to AUX1 port of Spirit and # 5 of RX / mode 1 (gas and not right)

1st flight today with the Spirit! / Safety hoop on the helicopter
Too bright
Setting the Dual Rate AIL before 100 100 after 60 60
ELE before 100 100 after 60 60
Better
Stationary ok

Rescue on a stationary at 10m altitude (+60 to -60 on the software Spirit: OK): but the helicopter goes down! not much but tends to go down while I expect it to go up.

Is this normal? : o

1 / Not enough steps?
Step curve / beginner / -100 0 + 100 100 linear
bottom gas handle -2%
middle sleeve + 3%
neck up + 9%
In rescue stick down +5%
middle sleeve + 5%
sleeve up 5%
whatever the position of the handle, in Rescue not to 5%? Normal? : o

2 / Not enough gas?
Gas curve / beginner / -100 0 + 100 100 linear
middle sleeve 50 50
Question: The Spirit manages the gases in my config (ordinary without governor / see my Bec and Aux connections)
Does it handle rescue mode? I translate: if I panic and put the gas to 0, if I put the rescue, the spirit must he raise the helicopter?

3 / TREX 500 + SAFETY HOOP / too heavy? he goes down

Your experience and know-how would be very useful
thank you in advance

REGARDS

Hello,

unfortunately from your description I can't understand all the data.
But I can tell, that at least some configuration is not good.
For example by using Dual Rates the precision goes down. Instead you can use Rotation speed in the Sensor tab.
With default settings at 8 it should be quite stable. If not, I think that something is wrong.
But this is not related to the Rescue. Only steering during flight.

What are these numbers?
Quote:
bottom gas handle -2%
middle sleeve + 3%
neck up + 9%
In rescue stick down +5%
middle sleeve + 5%
sleeve up 5%

If these are trims/subtrims then it is wrong. You should not use trims/subtrims in your transmitter at all. Probably the % are °

If Rescue does not go up, then I think that the basic setup is not done properly.
To verify it, you can go to the Servos tab and tick Subtrim (tuning).
Then fold both main blades together so that ends are are as close as possible. At this point both blades should be exactly at the same level.
If not, then this is the problem.
It is needed to always setup it so that when you will give 0% pitch, it will be at 0°.

To answer your question 2 - no, Spirit does not adjust Throttle at all. This behavior can be configured in your radio. For example you can use a special flight mode dedicated for the Rescue where Throttle Curve is flat. When stick is released it will be normal throttle curve.

When you will later advance in flying, you will be using flat/V throttle curve, so this problem will disappear.
Usage of linear throttle curve has unfortunately many disadvantages. But for very beginning it is probably better.

Hello,

Ok for Dual Rate / I reset basic setting / AIL 100 100 and ELE 100 100.
I will see on the next flight with your setting Rotation speed in the Sensor tab.

What are these numbers? I specify :
Stick gas down / incidence of blades measured with an incidence-meter / -2°
Stick gas middle / incidence of blades measured with an incidence-meter / + 3°
Stick gas up / incidence of blades measured with an incidence-meter / + 9°
In rescue / stick gas down / incidence of blades measured with an incidence-meter / +5°
In rescue / stick gas middle / incidence of blades measured with an incidence-metersleeve / + 5°
In rescue / stick gas up / incidence of blades measured with an incidence-metersleeve / + 5°

I will do the check / Servos tab and tick Subtrim (tuning).

"Spirit does not adjust Throttle at all. For example you can use a special flight mode dedicated for the Rescue where Throttle Curve is flat". OK I understand . But in this configuration and if I use Rescue when the throttle stick is down (panic time) is that I can not break all transmission gears because of the big difference in RPM ?

Regards

Hello

I check / Servos tab and tick Subtrim (tuning).
"Then fold both main blades together so that ends are are as close as possible. At this point both blades should be exactly at the same level."
For me difference and I had to put 40 for Aileron CH3 to get the same level
But when I give 0% pitch, it is at -1.3° on blades ( mesured with incidence meter)
Can I get the 0 ° with a setting of Spirit?

Regards and again thanks for all

Hello,

thank you for the details.
Changing only one servo is unfortunately not correct. You have to use the Cyclic Leveler tool, otherwise the settings will be imprecise and resulting flight behavior not optimal.

You have to change the servo subtrims so that all servo arms are at the center of the travel (as close as possible). Then by adjusting push rod lengths (all 3 equally) you have to put the swashplate into the level (with usage of the Cyclic Leveler). This settings is common for all FBL units so it is good to have this tool for each helicopter.

What I recommend is to follow this guide:
http://manual.spirit-system.com/index.p ... tive_Pitch

With this guide you can achieve perfectly precise mechanical configuration in all aspects. So any error is excluded.
This will very likely resolve also your problem with Rescue, collective pitch, etc.
