In the Jeti device explorer menu to the right of Spirit there is a (1) (2) or (3). What does this number mean and why does it change.

This is only identification assigned by Jeti radio. It has basically no meaning as far as Jeti told us. Only if there are more same units connected together at the same time you can distinguish between them.
