Hey, I finally setup telemetry with my Hobbywing 160a v4.

First question:

Does the spirit do the RPM calculation based on gearing put in the spirit software, or do I need to put the gearing into my TX under the telemetry settings?

Second:

For BEC V, it just says zero. No BEC voltage is showing up. Is this normal for the HW esc's?

Third:

Fet temp and BEC C are both showing in F not C, do I need to change it to C to get a correct number for consumed capacity, or will it just display the same number as is with Fahrenheit as the unit of measurement since it's not actually showing a temperature figure anyways?

Thanks

Hi,

Does the spirit do the RPM calculation based on gearing put in the spirit software, or do I need to put the gearing into my TX under the telemetry settings?
Yes, you have to enter the Gear Ratio and Sensing Divider in the Spirit Settings, not in the radio.

For BEC V, it just says zero. No BEC voltage is showing up. Is this normal for the HW esc's?
If the ESC has internal BEC, then it is not correct.

Fet temp and BEC C are both showing in F not C, do I need to change it to C to get a correct number for consumed capacity, or will it just display the same number as is with Fahrenheit as the unit of measurement since it's not actually showing a temperature figure anyways?
FET Temp should display temperature. I think that you can leave it with F.
Regarding consumed capacity - if you will flash our 2.4.4 version, then Capacity is showed in the Capacity telemetry.
You have to just add this screen in the Telemetry menu. You will be also able to set alarm for consumed capacity which can be quite usefull.

Firmware is available here: http://www.spirit-system.com/dl/fw/spirit-fw-2.4.4.4df
In the upcoming version it will be same as with this 2.4.4.

If you want to use official firmware, you will have to change F to C to get correct reading.

Thanks for the reply-

I was already running 2.4.4, but reflashed it again. No change, still no BEC voltage, and after adding flight pack mAh to telemetry it still doesn't show capacity consumed.

This is with the hobbywing 160a V4 with internal BEC.

I am very sorry, but I have not realized that HW ESCs are not reporting BEC voltage at all.
See this page:
http://manual.spirit-system.com/index.p ... ted_models
There is no hardware support for this :(

But BEC voltage can be reported by the receiver itself.
You can connect analog sensor from the SPM4649T - this can measure BEC voltage.

Oh it's ok, I'm honestly not really concerned with the BEC voltage, but It would be nice to see the consumed capacity of my flight packs, and I can't seem to get that to show up. At the very least, I can see RPM, so when I setup the hobbywing governor it will be easier to find the right % for the headspeed I want.

Regarding consumed capacity - this should work well already.
The only possible issue is, if you are trying it without a blades (without any load).
Also Spektrum radio is displaying values that are multiple of 10. So the first value you can see is 10mAh, which can take some time. In the flight it will display quite soon.
So I guess that there is no problem. Just the ESCs are usually not that precise (insensitive) for very small currents when trying on the bench.

I solder the voltage sensor leads that come with the 4649t to the + and - of the power / signal cable of the 4649t to get my BEC voltage to report. I usually do this when extending my RX wire to fit the model.
