1) Got everything set up and did a test run. My pitch gauge says I have 8 degrees of pitch, but I can not lift off the ground.

2)Rudder needs almost full right stick to hold, but looks centered at center stick. Also, it returns to center by itself, but when hooked up to the software, it remains where I put it.

Do I possible have some settings too low, because I was trying to be careful??

1) If there is really 8deg then the only explanation is:
- too low flying RPM
- blades are reversed
- measured angle is smaller
2) This can happen, if your Gyro Gain is negative or close to zero - in that case gyro is in the normal mode, while you need to set it for Head Lock mode. In this mode it should not return to center.
You only have to increase gyro gain in your transmitter so in the Diagnostic tab you will see HL, not N or HF.

1) I want zero pitch at the bottom, not in the middle. I started adjusting setting and I clearly have more pitch movement, however the diagnostic tab still says I have -49 pitch at bottom stick, not zero. I can not seem to change this.

2) I have gyro gain set at -65 which was recommended, in order for rescue to work and keep me in self level mode. The diagnostic slider does say HF, but changing this number in the transmitter does not make the slider change to HL.

1) This is not a problem, but if you are doing a setup, it is necessary that when you enable Servos/Subtrim (tuning) option, all servos will move to their center position as close as possible. This is very important.
So when you tick the option, the servos should go to the center and at the same time you should reach 0° (exactly) on the main blades.
If something is off, it should be corrected first.
Then to reach condition that you will get 0° pitch at the bottom position of the collective stick, you have to adjust the Pitch Curve in your transmitter to 50% - 100% (if 50% is middle position). If you have range from -100 - 100%. then set the throttle curve to 0 - 100%.
I dont know how you are experienced, so whenever you will be unsure, you can simply ask me for more details.

2) The rescue mode is not intended to be activated all the time - it should be active only when you will need to rescue the heli. When flying normally, it should be inactive or you can use a stabilisation mode which is good for learning.
But in any way, please make sure that in the Stabi tab/Function parameter you have configured function you want to activate (when gyro gain is negative). If there is Disabled, then the only thing you will activate will be Normal gyro mode (which is condition that occured for you - in this mode gyro will drift).
So what you want to achieve is that you will see "HL" in the Diagnostic tab under Gyro bar. "N" mean Normal mode and "HF" mean Head Lock mode + activated special Function (such as Rescue/Stabilisation).
