So, how does this article / blog relate to Hobbywing and Spirit ?

It doesn't. It just explains the risk of using ANY external gov. The link was asked for, and supplied...

I'm also using HW 100a V3 internal governor on my Goblin with success. I've tried to use HW 60 V4 internal governor on Chase - it keeps RPM very well but have tail wag with it - even if I lower gov gains... Tail is OK vith Spirig gov ...

Not convinced of his argument. In that case even throttle curves would be risky as the throttle PWM is controlled by the TX directly.

Getting offtopic but no, pwm is controlled by the esc. Also internal govs adjust the motor timing even when its set to fixed to make sure there are no misfires.

So how would throttle curves work then? How would airplane and multi rotor ESCs work without misfiring? Sorry don't get it :(

I've tried new firmware. Tail kick on startup using fixed wing mode is corrected (with startup power at 1) but RPM data are still reported as too noisy even with filtering at 6... :(

I think the rpm data need the hardware mod described here to work. Possibly spirit is behaving the same way as the Spartan, Ikon etc with the 60a v4 ESC

Seems like the way to go with that ESC is to use a separate rpm sensor.

I have the hw 100a v3 on my g380 and g500 sport and what's weird is that on my 500 I have the rpm filter down to 1 with no issues but on my 380 I have tried everything possible but cannot get a clean signal from the rpm lead. I've tried adding caps, ferrite rings, moving the wiring to different places and, of course, changing the filter to the max all of which made no change.

ThomasN, have you tried with lower BEC voltage?

Did someone tried the NPN Transistor in between to change impedance? As its related to HW, I guess it the only solution.
If there is a fix in FW by HW, all they can do is duty cycle change, but I don't think it will help.

I would go for NPN Transistor:
Signal from HW ESC with 10k to Base, Emitter to Ground (Black) to any Spirit Power or Sat Port and Collector to Spirit rpm (PIT).
Almost any NPN signal Transistor can be used for it. Like BC546 / BC547 / N2222
If there is someone in Europa with HW 60A V4, with noise Problem pls let me know (PM) I can solder it for you for testing.
