I am trying to setup the Spirit Pro with a Taranis Plus Radio. For this I am using a X4R Sbus receiver. I have the following questions:

1. Should I pick the Futaba S-BUS receiver in the wizard?
2. I have noticed the diagram depicting the S-BUS receiver connections shows pitch servo connected to channel 3 and aileron servo connected to channel 1, whereas step 3/10 of the wizard tells you to connect pitch to channel 1 and Aileron to channel 3. I have tried to go by the receiver diagram and it almost worked but then in step 6/10 of the wizard I couldn't get the longitudinal compensation when tilting the heli right or left. I mean I got compensation but in the wrong directions. It didn't maintain the horizontal. I then tried by selecting servo reverse for aileron (channel 1) in menu 6/10 but that only caused the aileron to behave as pitch.

3. Has anybody used a Taranis with the Spirit Pro and a X4R? If so, what are the suggestions to configure with Spirit Pro? Of course, I made sure I have X=Y pitch and throttle curves but don't know what else could be in the middle...

Thanks and sorry for the long story.

I switched channels CH1 and CH3 in the unit as suggested by Z but when I do that even when I get the the bars moving right, the swash doesn't do what the channel is supposed to do. I mean If I move pitch nothing moves in the swash. If I move aileron, the swash does another thing. If I move Elevator, I don't get any movement. The bars are moving right but the swash is moving wrong.

I have tried before -as I mentioned in my last post- plugging Pitch in Channel 3 and Aileron in Channel 1. Then I get stuck in the movement compensation step. The aileron axis doesn't compensate the horizontal movement...

Would you please help me here?

Thanks.

If you can see correct movement in the diagnostic tab, then you are done with this.

Your swashplate is not moving very probably, because you have enabled a rescue mode and it is still active.
You have to change your gyro gain in the transmitter to make it inactive - this mean you should see HL, not HF in the diagnostic tab, when the rescue is not active.

Hi Z,

I haven't gotten to the rescue feature yet so this is disabled by default. Gyro gain is in HL and is coming from the transmitter.

I still can't figure why I have no horizontal compensation in the aileron axis.

Please keep trying to help and thanks.

Hi,

maybe it is working, but in the opposite way.
If so, the only problem is in the rest of basic configuration.

You have to finish whole wizard to make it work all correctly.

Especially parameters such as Position and Swashplate must be configured correctly else servo movement will be wrong.

OK, I will continue setup and then let you know if the compensation thing worked.

Thanks

For sure it will work correctly if everything is configured well.
It is only necessary to proceed through the wizard step by step.
When finished, it should be ready to fly and all compensations will work as supposed.

I've been out of town for a few days and just saw this post now. I'm running the Spirit (not Pro), Taranis (not Plus) and X4R Rx and everything works correctly. We can definitely get you up and running. Please post back your results after you finish going through the wizard.

OK, I followed all the wizard steps and still don't get compensation in the aileron axis. My tail gain is in the HL range. The Aileron axis doesn't compensate movements horizontally. I have swapped all the servo leads through all Channels in the unit and repeated the process every time. The closest I get is when I plug Aileron in 1, Elevator in 2 and Pitch in 3 but I have to reverse the aileron in the receiver so the bar follows the movement of the stick.

The compensation is not working.

Let's start at the first step because that has caused some confusion. What is the orientation of your unit (post picture) and what did you select in the wizard.

No inverter cable, right? Spirit Pro does not need it.

On my (non pro) looking down on the heli with nose forward, chan 1 is on the left and chan 3 is on the right.

In Tx, set all servos to normal (arrow right) and reverse only those needed to get bars in diagnostic screen to move in correct direction. On mine, I reversed chan 2 (ele) and chan 6 (pitch).
