I've recently connected my Spectrum telemetry to the Hobbywing RPM output of my Goblin 500. Im using the Spirit governor and got my first results from todays flight. Running the Quantum 4120-1200 KV motor with the 18T pulley. Packs are gens ace 4400 45C

Im running ~2407-2410 RPM and tried a few flips and rolls and this is the typical RPM variance I see.

It dips to approx 2360 RPM when I flip to inverted & push negative collective and jumps up to approx 2480 when I go through 0 and into positive collective when completing the flip. Also my flight pack voltage dips from 22.2 to approx 21.4 when going negative & inverted. That was approx half way through the flight (3rd minute or so)

Granted my collective management skills are not great yet - have not perfected them to be fully stationary so Im loading and unloading the head more than someone more experienced.

Wanted your views on this variance - would you consider this good governing or not?

Full flight telemetry below. Flight was circuits and a few flips & rolls thrown in-between. Whats your thoughts on ESC temp, flight pack performance and governor performance?

I would call this good.
If you have got the feeling to make the response better, increase gov response. I had to go up to 7 on my 6S Soxos 600.
If you get overspeeding during agressive pitch changes out of hoover you are to high. Trust your ears for rpm holding. I would call changes of +/- 100rpm as good, pending on your stick inputs and flight style.

Thanks for this. I can barely hear the headspeed change with 6 on the gov response - all I can hear are the blades slapping the air!

Might bump to 7 and check the logs again. I'll be dropping a size on the pinion too as I think it's over geared for 2400 rpm - at 100 throttle I'm geared for 2800-3000 rpm which is just a bit less than 80% on the ESC. Might help with the voltage drop I'm noticing too as it seems the battery is loading up a bit.

I have the exact same setup as you and I have my holding performance at 6 and response at 5 which seems to be pretty good for my flying. I tried bumping it up to 7 but noticed a hs change as soon as I switch to that bank.

Yes, a 17T pinion, which is what I am using, is about perfect for a 2450 RPM headspeed with that setup, allowing for 15-10% headroom.
