I am looking for info about the status of using a Spirit FBL on a 700 gasser (zenoah 290 engine). I have not read about positive outcomes from those that have tried. Sounds like neither the Gov or Rescue work reliably on a gasser at this point. Is that true? Anyone know what the issue is? Am I wrong and all features work fine on a gasser?

I currently use BD3SX and Rescue is flawless on two Helibug conversions but there is no Gov. I would love an FBL unit that has both Rescue and Gov and functions well on a gasser.

I don't think that I have seen any reports of Spirit Rescue issues on gassers. I am just breaking in my Goblin 700 Gasser with a Spirit Pro and have not needed Rescue yet except for testing it a few times. I can say that the Spirit Vibration telemetry (Jeti TX) from the Gasser does not look much different than the Spirit Vibration telemetry from my electric helis (Goblin 500 and T-Rex 450L), so I don't expect any problems with Rescue. Also, I am using a GY701 governor for now because I know it works well.

Have you tested the Rescue?

The appeal for me is to have Rescue and Gov in one unit but only if they will work on my gassers.

Yes, I tested Rescue a few times successfully on the gasser, but I have not pushed the heli much yet since I am just breaking in the engine. Hopefully, I will push it a little more over the next few weeks. I have used Spirit Rescue may times on my electric helis and it has always worked perfectly.

No, I did not try the internal governor because I have only seen questionable reports on gassers.

I can live with both the Spirit and the external governor, because, other than the governor, the Spirit FBL controller has proven to me to be excellent, and my good experience with its Rescue feature is the main reason I have stuck with the R/C heli hobby.
