hello!

I would like to include the Spirit in a Hughes 500E of the 700size. the hughes has a 5 blade rotorhead and a weight of 7kg.

which parameters I have to adjust for scale heli?
What should I watch?

Greeting frank

Hello,

first from all, you should check what Cyclic Phasing your rotor head need for correct operation.
Other than that, I recommend high Flight Style and low Rotation Rate (maybe 6 - 8).

Mostly the most problematic part of the tuning is in achieving great tail performance, because helicopter is very heavy.
So revomix and playing with Piro Consistency may be necessary.

Sorry rather than open a new thread,
ZeXx86 is it then possible to correct the phasing on a multiblade head ( I will be using an Align 500 4 blade head) electronically in the Spirit(std version) as with Skookum/Beastx and if so how (please easy to follow point by point instructions :? ). The heli is flying perfectly now with two blades on Spirit.
Thanks

Ps love the Spirit I have 3 :D

You find this under advanced/expert settings/cyclic phase (as described in the manual p.53)

It's totally independent on numbers of blades attached to the head, 1 with counterweight or many, it's just a rotating disc.

In regards of what cyclic phase to use, check for perfect 90 degree orientation of blade reaction on ELV and AIL stick input.
Means if you move ELV, main blades square to the heli axis should move the most, if you move AIL Stick, blades on heli axis should move the most.
It's 90° shifted, which might look and feel strange, as it's not what would be expected.

This is due to physical phenomenon called precession, which describes the direction (reaction) of move in a 90° angle of applied force on a rotating object.
Means if we would like the Main Rotor disc doing Roll, we need to apply square force at 90° angle, which looks like ELV.
Due to different geometry of heads, swash plate might even move different, this is where cyclic phase plays in.
Remember it's key what force gets applied to the rotating disc (main rotor) for the right reaction.

Check it with your two blade head, if blades are aligned with Heli axis and you move ELV-Stick you won't see any move, same if blades are square and you move AIL.
Reaction follows after 90°. For CW Head, pushing ELV to dive, Blade on the left side goes down and on the right side up.
On CCW rotating head opposite.

With this in mind, it's also clear, why rpm is critical on rotating system to get any descent cyclic reaction.
Best regards, Adrian

Thank you, seems quite straight forward. ;)
