OK, full servo movement has now been achieved by increasing throttle range max to 130.

The throttle is fully closed with -40 of negative subtrim in the transmitter without changing the min value of -100 in the software.I can raise this to get the engine idling.

This has been setup with a 0, 25,50,75,100 curve in the transmitter.Should I now be using straight lines only?

How do I have the governor off for normal mode and just fly with a throttle curve?

I seem to get the throttle servo pulsating continuously when it at it's maximum position.Any idea why?

Servo pulsing at not just maximum position.
Reducing the maximum in the governor software to shut the throttle down to any position gives the same servo movement.

Another servo has been tried and with and without the servo arm.

Governor Response is 3 and Holding Performance is 1

Maybe I'm missing something here?

Yes, governor is trying to spoolup the motor, but it is not possible.
It reached max. range of the integral term so you are seeing this behavior as there is no RPM input.
If current RPM is matching requested RPM, then this term is not exceeding its limit.

The helicopter is still on the bench being set up at the moment so no idea whether the actual RPM's of the engine is correct.

Requested RPM's are seen OK in the governor software but can't tell any more.

Is this pulsing of the throttle servo OK and totally expected then? Is there any thing that needs doing to stop this?

Is the very slow build up up to full throttle correct and OK that the throttle servo goes over to full wide open throttle when on the bench even when different RPMs are requested?

Yes, everything is OK.
But without running motor you can't check if rest is good.

OK,will try it but need to have the governor off in normal flight mode,if possible for starting the engine.
How do I do this as even a regular curve shows me a requested head speed?

Of course I will have straight lines as throttle curves for Idle 1 and Idle 2 as per the instructions.
I would prefer not to have to start the engine with throttle hold in use.

You can turn off the governor by changing throttle curve under 15%.

Ok, so this needs a curve not a straight line with a starting point of 0 and other points less than 15% to start the motor with the governor off.
After this the curve would need to be over 15% to get enough RPM to get the helicopter of the ground. This would engage the governor.

So it is not possible to fully disconnect the governor operation at all?

With all points on a curve less than 15% the RPM on the engine would not be high enough.
Have I got this right or am I missing something here ?

Yes, you'll need one flight mode which has a curve starting at 0% and moving to whatever percent you want. Keep in mind that even though the governor will engage at over 15% it will do so at whatever rpm is requested by the throttle curve you've programmed. Since the throttle curve is variable (0% to whatever your maximum is) the governor will be tracking a moving target. In other words, where there is a curve you won't even notice that the governor is on. My normal mode for my gasser was set at 0% at low stick, to 40% at mid stick, then 60% or so at full stick. This allowed a full off governor for starting, hovering at some governed speed that kept changing as I increased throttle and then when hovering switched into Idle up 1 to a throttle curve that was a flat line of whatever percent for flying. (note that when switching from normal to Idle up 1 in a hover there is an increase of headspeed, depending on what you set and your familiarity of the engine sound change and blade speed change this can be a surprise - some people like to set the hover headspeed to a rpm level that is close to their flying headspeed just to minimize that transition. However that's not my preference. I like to take off and land at around 1200 rpm headspeed and then normal is about 1600rpm. That's a big transition. No worries though the engine increases speed to that in about a second and a half. Not too fast or too slow in my opinion).

Ok thanks.

Will the requested headspeed displayed in the governor tab be OK to use to setup the RPM when I setup a curve for normal mode?
