Post subject:  Wish: negative rudder common gain

It would be interesting to have the possibility of having one bank locked to a defined Stabi mode directly in the software.

I assume the easiest way would be to allow negative Rudder Common Gain, this would probably just require software changes and no firmware ones.

I have a DX8.
I currently don't use banks, and activate Rescue through a mix which changes my tail gain to negative.
Unfortunately, that mix has to be modified every time I change the tail gain, and does not allow different gains in different flight modes.

I would like to get rid of that mix AND keep the tail gain setup in the TX, and as far as I understand, the only way would be to use AUX2/Channel 7 to switch banks, but then how do I force a bank to be Rescue on?

That's where my request comes from.

If there are any other trick or workarounds to achieve this with the DX8 please let me know!!

You do not need to use any workarounds.

It is already implemented in the software.

Rudder Common Gain is not used for this.
You have to use Rudder Gain to set negative gyro gain as it is equivalent of the Rudder Gain from your transmitter.

I want to be able to change gain from my TX without requiring any change in Spirit config. This is not possible the way you describe. Read my first post...

Ah, now I understand.

You can also solve your problem with mixes by our guide for Spektrum. This will allow different tail gains + rescue without using mixes.

But again, this will be either gains in the Spirit and not in the TX, or anyway one only Rescue gain if using the TH features for Rescue.

My suggestion of implementing a negative Common Gain would make it possible to have a negative value which automatically corresponds to the positive value set in that particular flight mode... Let's say I am in IU1 with gain 63, I switch to my Rescue bank where I have negative Common Gain -1,00 et voilá I have -63 so Rescue active with gain 63... if I am in IU2 with gain 65 I get -65 automatically... and no mix needed.

I agree you need to give people with 6CH radios a way to make everything work, but you should not force people with more available channels to compromise (e.g. have gain set in the Spirit).

I understand, but you really can configure it in the way you want with your DX8 as described in our guide.

In this way you will use Gyro Gain from your transmitter and at the same time you do not have to use mixes at all to activate the rescue.
So you can configure Gyro Gain in your transmitter for all flight modes and the rescue separately.

If it's the same manual which is online here, there is no way there to have a different rescue gain value for each flight mode gain value. I will have e. g. gain 65 in Normal, 62 in IU1 and 60 in IU2 but one only Rescue value, e. g. -60.

And... my DX8 will not display HOLD when I am "logically" in TH since the Hold feature will be used for Rescue and the real TH is achieved via TC.

Yes, you are right, altough when you switch to the flight mode that is used for the rescue, you will set also throttle curve. Here you can configure the highest one. So the helicopter can also get more performance during the rescue.

We will consider to implement negative Rudder Common Gain.
