Rescue precision can be lessened during long flights or complicated manouvers, especially with high vibrations. Usually you would only find out something is wrong when rescue suddenly fails at some point. The recommended way to check this is to engage rescue after flight when the motor is off but before removing power, to see if the swashplate is still level and moving up as it should.

This made me think it would be nice to have this check automated. The spirit unit should be able to detect when the model has landed using vibrations/rpm measurement or lack of movement. If you then assume that the heli is in a level position when landed, you could compare this to what the rescue algorithm thinks is "up", and automatically generate an error/warning if there is a large deviation. Then you could warn the user on next power up that something is wrong.

Spirit rescue is imo already ahead of the competition, but this would make it even better.

Excellent suggestion.

A "self test" from the Spirit system itself would be miles ahead rather than a manual test.
