No, the units RS / GTR are only for Jeti transmitter (the Jeti receiver is built-in).

Okay, I know this already, but the thing I wanted to know that if it's possible to make it by a firmware change or little bit tinkering ? Or is it completely impossible?

As I best understand it, the Spirit RS and Spirit GTR (the Spirit units with the antennas) are only compatible with Jeti radios, and one CANNOT connect an external receiver to them (Futaba, Spektrum, Graupner, JR, open source, etc.) to work with a non-Jeti radio. I don't know if this is a hardware or a software limitation. Perhaps this limitation may be do to some sort of legal agreement with Jeti. Interestingly, both of these flight controllers (RS and GTR) will accept the soon to be released Spirit WAVE receiver and work with the soon to be released Spirit WAVE radio, which makes me think this external receiver incompatibility is a software lock limitation and not a hardware limitation.

I think it's definitely a software limitation, If you can change receiver type and then the port of the receiver changes accordingly, then it should be possible to make unit to listen receiver signal from a different place than a internal receiver. But probably it's about an agreement between Jeti and Spirit. If these units accepts Spirit Wave, then this makes me think that they may develop Spirit Wave together or Jeti may produce it for Spirit ? just thinking ~

it's simply all about the connectors - the rightmost 2 connectors (except the RPM pin) are not connected to the Spirit unit anymore on the GTR units, but directly to the internal Jeti Rex3 receiver (it's E1/E2/Ext). those are the ones used for external receiver connection on GT units. you simply run out of connectors....

There is unfortunately technical limitation - internal JETI receiver can't be turned off. It is taking some important wirings and could interfere with other receivers. For this reason it is not supported.
On the other hand we released new update that is extending support for Spirit RS and GTR to enable external Wave receivers. This is important change because from now you can use also Spirit Wave radios with your units.
