Hello everyone !

I'm new here, coming from Futaba world and a dead CGY 750 that crashed my beloved Hirobo 80's Huey ...

I am looking to upgrade all my electronics and just found about Spirit products.

I have a project of 1/6th Vario EC-145 rescue helicopter, with a working winch and rescuer.

Considering current technologies allowing drones to hover to the centimeter even in gusty conditions, I am curious what FBL systems can do in our rotary world.

What Spirit GT position hold feature worth ? Couple videos I saw show approximate hover and constant yo-yo in height.

Looking forward to hear scale pilots feedback on this !

Thanks,
Hueyman

I am very sorry about your crash.

I fly sports and 3D flight style exclusively. Spirit flight controllers perform superbly well for what I am looking for.

I have no idea how well Spirit units perform for the "scale" discipline of the hobby. I have no idea how well the Spirit performance is with the external Spirit GPS module either.

are you not exaggerate a bit?
a betaflight quad with an gps will not do that, not "to the centimeter" in gusty conditions.

even a modern tractor with an 15.000usd GPS globe has "only" +/- 1 inch accuracy, (and they need a mobile connection in addition to gps).

i think the best you can get is inav / ardupilot with an lindar / opflow sensor.

afaic in the rc heli world the only system that has that is the robbe helicommand rigid V.2, but since this is no longer build, it either was not that good or there was no demand for that.

you could ask the rotorflight guys if they planning on supporting an opflow sensor in the future, since it is based on betaflight it shares also code with inav, so it should be possible...

there are a few "toy" "beginner" helis around that come with an opflow sensor, but i think the market for a "quality" unit with openflow is realy small.

also never seen that in action but you could take a look at the wookong-h from dji.
according to the marketing it was made for scale helis and it has "Accurate Position and Altitude Hold"
maybee you can find that somewhere.

while i love the spirit system, i dont think precission hover is a current goal of the system.
