Any more thoughts on this issue?
I have proven to my satisfaction at least that when the Futaba RX goes into fail safe mode, the Spirit ignores the output from the RX and holds the last input.
This is a copy of my post in the thread on Helifreak (

I have separately verified this behavior when using S.Bus.
I agree it makes no sense, but it is happening ...
For my test I used an R6203SB receiver connected via S.Bus inverter cable to the Spirit.
I also connected a signal monitor to the elevator channel on the R6203SB so I could monitor the elevator channel output. Throttle is connected directly to the R6203SB.
I then set a low throttle failsafe setting which was just high enough to give a low RPM and I set an elevator failsafe for full back elevator.
I checked that the monitor on the elevator channel showed the correct signal as I moved the elevator and watched the Spirit control the elevator accordingly.
With the throttle set to zero I turned off the radio.
The throttle raised to the failsafe setting but the elevator did not move. The monitor on the elevator channel did however show the correct signal.
So failsafe is working correctly on the receiver but the Spirit is not reacting to channel inputs when the receiver is in failsafe mode ...
Edit: Just retested while connected via bluetooth and servo monitor on Spirit software clearly shows the elevator servo is held at last position when receiver goes into failsafe mode and failsafe channel position being sent by receiver is ignored.
