How do you change the initial spool up rate? Using the Spirit gov with the Hobbywing v3 50a and a Xnova 2618-1860 motor, the throttle jumps from 0-13% in the tab when you switch out of TH instantly and this causes a very hard initial kick before the spool up starts slowly.
I have everything configured properly with 0-100 showing for throttle and did the ESC throttle calibration properly.
I turned on "Heli gov off" so the ESC handles the soft spool up, but, the spirit should be able to handle that as well.

Howdy and welcome back to the top half of the world!
You may benefit from updating your HW firmware. I just updated my HW USB Link to 3.51 and ESC to the latest. Initial startup is handled by ESC and then turns over to Spirit.
Heli Gov off should start at 5% according to the HW docs. I just configured Spirit gov on my Goblin 380 with HW100v3 ESC.
Mine 380 is configured for 'electric fast' in Spirit and 'Heli Gov off' in ESC. Initial startup speed is like before in HW Heli gov mode, then ramps up quicker once Spirit gov takes over.

Awesome, thanks for the tip Jay,
I just got back from flying it and the gov is awesome. I had the settings at 4 and 4 and had no tail issues and headspeed was rock solid. No over speeding, just worked perfectly.
After running a diff FBL on my X3 for the last couple months, it was a nice improvement to get a Spirit back on it.

Welcome back Jman841 and thank you for your comment!
If ESC does not support smooth spoolup at all you can little bit modify throttle curve so there is no jump from 0 to 1% (this can be done with Min. parameter). But we have good results with Hobbywing ESCs. It is mostly just plug and play. Only throttle range should be calibrated.

Thank you Tomas,
Yes, it's working perfectly with the Hobbywing ESC set to "Heli Gov off", but in airplane mode I had the Spirit hooked up to the computer and was watching the throttle curve as I turned on the gov and it was going from 0% to 13% instantly then from 13% up it was going smooth as it should.
Is this incorrect operation? I will take the blades off and try again to see if it goes smooth from 0% throttle all the way up now.
Very pleased over all though! Holding performance is excellent and current spikes are very low so the gov is doing it's job very well keeping the HS constant without playing the huge amp spike catch up game!

Great, from 0 to 1250us (13%) throttle is controlled directly from your transmitter and from this value Governor is activated.

Ah ok,
But, if I flip off TH and it goes instantly to 80% throttle, will the spirit spool up slowly from 0 (1000us or whatever the 0 throttle pwm is) or will it start from 1250us?
I guess what I am asking, if I have the ESC in airplane mode, will it spool up slowly from 0 or will it spool up hard for the first 13% throttle then switch over? I'm assuming it will be smooth from 0 so I don't have to use Heli Gov off on the hobbywing?

It will start from 1250us, but to make it smooth with Airplane mode from the beginning, you can use Min. parameter to lower the range. So then it can start with 1%. Altough I recommend using Helicopter Gov Off.
