Post subject: | [SOLVED] PID Gain Tuning |
I'm trying to get a better understanding of how a FBL system works to assist in tuning and keep coming across PID Gain. Can someone enlighten me as to which parameter is which in the Spirit system ? I just can't seem to get the Tail as solid as I know it can be and have tried many different configurations on a couple of different Helis. I think I suck at Tuning !! |

Hi, you can check this guide: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=378 The most important parameter is Piro Consistency, then Rudder Delay. There are no more parameters that can affect general performance so only these should be tuned. Also very important is to correctly set tail center mechanically else performance can be worsened significantly. Mostly it is different for each helicopter so you should set it accordingly to the manual of your helicopter. What is your helicopter and what tail servo do you have? |

Currently setup on one of my Compass Warp 360 and am using KST215 @ 7.0v. all around. Rudder Limits are 100-110 and Delay set to 10. Rudder rotation 11. TX Gyro Gain 70% , Cyclic Gain 65%. How do those figures look and could you recommend a Ball-Park Piro Comp. value for this setup. The Warp Manual suggests 3-4Deg positive Pitch on the Tail at 90 which I have it set to. |

Great, you can start with Piro Consistency at 165 and Rudder Delay at 0. |

Ok , now where getting closer . Who would have thought what is essentially a Cyclic Servo having enough speed to require 0 Delay ! These KST 215MG appear to be a great little Servo. The Tails still not perfect but much closer than I was getting previously . I'll use TX Tail Gain settings and Bank switching to play with Piro Con. values and see if I can get the Tail rock solid. Finally starting to enjoy flying the Spirit ! |
