The manual states it is "highly recommended" to put Rescue (Normal) on a momentary switch. I was thinking about putting it on a 2-position switch and programming the radio to disable throttle hold as long as Rescue (Normal) is high.

What are the downsides to this? I dont want to waste time setting it up if it's not going to work as expected. The manual hints that Rescue (Normal) will only trigger once for each state change from OFF to ON, but i absolutley don't want it activating every 1.5 seconds as long as the switch is high.

I guess I am asking if there are unintended consequences of putting it on a toggle and inhibiting throttle hold while that switch is high.

Downside is that you can't deactivate Rescue mode too quick.
It could happen that you will look how your helicopter is ascending and then you might loose orientation to return it back to you.

Fortunately there is parameter that can set Hovering collective pitch after a duration you will set to prevent this situation.

In any case it is recommneded to use Momentary switch, because you can freely continue in flying and you have full control of the model all the time.
Locking the throttle hold is not good idea at all - for example in case of failure right during Rescue you would be unable to turn motor off or turn it too late with increased damage.
