Using Spirit GT with Hobbywing Platinum V5 telemetry. I want to connect the HW fan to the programming port as the manual instructs. Can I just use the Spirit Y cable or something similar? As far as I can see the fan won't touch the signal lead so it shouldn't interfere but I want to be sure. The black/brown leads from fan/telemetry would be connected together and red will go only to the fan. Or is there a better way to do this? |

A cable Y adapter would work. Alternatively you could double up the negative to use a single plug which is what I did. |

Yeah that sounds a bit cleaner, made my own telemetry cable anyway so that's what I will do. Thanks for the quick reply. |

in general i would suggest to buy a 3rd party high quality fan (i.e. Sunon)... only some Euros/Dollars. the stock HW fan is known to produce high frequency vibrations that could disturb FBLs... Spirit being one of them. seen that myself... no problems at all with a Sunon fan - less noise & more airflow |

I have read about the ultrasound frequencies produced by the fan so I'll have to look into this. Mine is 19000rpm@6v and it doesn't say what the max is anywhere, but I'll definitely run my BEC higher than that so I'm not even sure if it's usable. Can definitely see it going into ultrasound range though. Trying to find a 3rd party fan with a lower rpm but they all appear to be rated at 5v or 12v, what do you suggest? It needs to be 25x25mm. |

Hi i do not remember the exact type i've been using (it's >5yrs i used a HW the last time)... but it was definitely a fan made by Sunon. it was the fastest spinning 12V 25x25x10 type i've been able to find and it was perfect at 8V then. the 5V fans i've tried started to die around 7+ V (latest) after some minutes of operation. |
