Post subject:  Nitro Engine temp sensor

Hi friends. I was wondering how do I connect a temp sensor (like the Jeti MT300) to a Spirit GT unit using an FrSky R-XSR receiver (which is connected to the RUD port of the unit). Frsky integration works great, I do receive telemetry data like engine rpm, but I'm blank on how should I connect this temperature sensor to my setup. Thanks!

Hello,
I don't think that the Jeti temerature sensor is compatibel to the FrSky receiver, this is only to Jeti compatible as I read in an short instruction...

I dont know were you from, here is a Link from Jeti homepage:
https://www.jetimodel.com/katalog/mt-300-ex-1.htm

If I were you I would get a FrSky temperature sensor and connect that to the FPort of the R-XSR receiver for example - that should work -

Regards

I know for a fact that this sensor works with FrSky R-XSR receiver when connected to Brain2 fbl, so I guess I am asking if can it be done on Spirit GT too.

Where did you connect this sensor to the brain?
If this interface is also in the spirit it works too - but you have to give more information if you want a certain answer - you say it works with the brain but you don't give any additional information this is not very helpful...

MT300 is supported by the Brain unit, you connect it to one of the pins of a certain port of the unit (4-5-6), give power to the sensor via a Y cable, all while the unit talks with a TX16S EdgeTX Radio via an FrSky R-XSR f.port receiver... so telemetry works perfectly, engine temperature included.
Since I also use an R-XSR f.port on my Trex 600N with Spirit GT, where I do get telemetry like engine rpm and voltage, I got an MT300 temp sensor without thinking too much into it, assuming it would work with Spirit too.
Still waiting some input from devs or someone that knows more on the subject, although it's not looking very promising. All the searches I've done point almost no relevant info.

I don't think that this is implemented in Spirit like in brain 2...

This sensor can be connected directly to Spirit RS or GTR or any JETI receiver.
Unfortunately it will not work with other units. Only when we will add support. In the future it can be added.

With FrSky there are however more options how to connect temperature sensors.

Thank you! I would have gotten the GTR when I decided to acquire my Spirit unit, but since I don't fly with a JETI radio I got the GT instead, thinking it is all I need. It would be great if you could add support for this sensor, I will keep it and hope for an update. It's a good quality sensor and gives accurate readings, hard to destroy an engine with this sensor installed.

Also, could you elaborate more on the options for Frsky sensors? I get it that I could solder a frsky temp sensor to the f port pad of the receiver, but is there any way to connect such sensor straight to a Spirit port, like with the rpm sensor?

No, no soldering to the receiver no one said that !
You connect your receiver via FPort thru the Spirit ? Then take an Y-cable to connect the sensor too... nothing else -

With F.Port 1 sensors are not supported.
You need S.Port which is supported by this receiver or F.BUS/F.Port 2 which is not supported by R-XSR.
Only Y cable is needed to connect a telemetry sensor.
FrSky has enough temperature sensors.
