What is the best response that people are getting with the V1 GeoLink? Out at a field distant from Melbourne and clear of any structures, I managed to get a 'Position Hold' within a couple of feet. At the back of my apartment with a limited view of the sky I have manage about 8 feet, in a toilet bowl type motion with about 11 satelites, 10 maybe? I have been playing with the X/Y gain (on a Trex 550) at about 55%, but am not that confident in it yet! I don't need these aids myself, but would like to set this up reliably on a student heli. What are peoples experience, please? How well does the GPS 'Position Hold" work and at what usual Gain % ? Much appreciate some normal settings, please! Regards, Andy |

XY position hold works fine for me within about 1 to 2 metres drift slowly left to right. Horz gain is 90% on 2 different helicopters (380 and 500). Vertical position hold does not work for me on my 500. It bounces up and down getting more violent and larger bouncing as time goes by. After 4 to 5 seconds, the Vertical swing is about 10 metres and wildly out of control. Gain is 20% and can't be adjusted any lower. My 380 seems better. I've not finished tuning it yet as I have to take it home, adjust then travel back to the field as the opentx telem can't be used to set geolink parameters as far as I know, and I don't have a laptop. Return to home works on both helicopters and returns to within 10 metres, then holds the XY position within 1 to 2 metres. I've not tried the new rth altitude setting yet. I suspect it'll just crash as it can't hold vertical position, I'll try out at the weekend. 1 metre is approx 3.3ft. Geolink RTH has saved me from losing a heli multiple times now, but for me, it just doesn't seem to work quite as it should. I've no idea why or how to fix it. |

Just tried rth at predefined altitude on the 380 and it works perfectly. It returns in the same orientation as it was in when activated, eg skids up or down. When it arrived at the home position, there was no bouncing. It just holds steady at 25 metres up until deactivated. Position xyz hold still bounces up and down for me. I'll try lower gains tomorrow. |

Hello, normal gains are around 70 - 100 for the most models. It is interesting that RTH is working fine for you, because it is using same function for maintaining altitude as Altitude Hold. Maybe there are more features enabled, not only Position Hold and Altitude Hold. Altitude Hold allow more options, have you tried to engage it with opposite channel value with fixed collective pitch? |

Can you please move this post to viewtopic.php?f=20&t=5268 so that I can continue with this support in my own thread, please. |
