I am building a scale fuselage ( Roban 212 600 size) and I have the GTR unit with the Geolink module, now I want to build the gps unit inside the fuselage but there isn’t space in the tail.
The only space is under the “ doghouse” close at the rotor approx 15 cm distance.
Is this possible and will it work ?
On a other scale heli I use a Naza H unit, and the gps unit under the rotor works normal without problems ( inside fuselage) .

I hope it would work.

Regards , Arno

Hello,

if there is nothing magnetic in the vicinity then it will work. Otherwise it will disturb compass measurement. But same applies to other units too.

Thank for youre quick response ZeXx86,

There are indeed a few small magnets to keep the "doghouse" on his place , they are intergrated in the epoxy hood and fuselage and not to remove .
Is there a way to measure the influence of the magnets on the Geolink module ?
And is it possible to shield the Geo module with a smal metal case at the underside or plate to get no interference on the compass ?

Best regards,

Arno.

I did some research about this and found a metal wath can make a shield to cover the magnetism and it is called MU metal
Also i found a adres where it is available but it is expensive just for a experiment
https://www.reichelt.nl/nl/de/magnetfel ... GE=DE&&r=1
Maybe if there are more users with same problem/question we could buy it with a few builders
This would be a great solution if it works for more scale builders/pilots

Best regards,

Arno :)
