Hello fellow spirit users, Spirit RS Jeti DS12 Goblin Drake 700 KSE cyclic servos xlpower ds747rs Rudder servo I had a pro pilot fly my heli today and he had a couple of notes about how the heli reacted but im unsure what settings to play with to try and get it flying better. 1. Stationary piros "wonder" the he asked if the spirit had any kind of piro compensation as the vbar does to help the heli stay in one place when piroing. 2. He said the tail felt very loose in tic toc manoeuvres, and ill admit it does need constant correcting (i thought it was just my bad flying), gains are set right, rudder delay is right, piro consitancy is up at 190, what else can i change? 3. He also said that the expo curve felt really odd, the helis rotational speed (on alerons) got suddenly faster as he got to the full range of movement on the sticks and wasn't linier, which he thought seemed very twitchy, my radio expo is 20%, i believe the spirit does not have internal expo. Is there as setting to make the heli rotation more linier? The pilot in question is currently in the top 5 f3n championship here in the uk so i take his feedback as very well informed. I flew his spector and i have to say the tail was rock solid, i didnt feel the faster rotation as he described but i did notice his sticks were very much shorter than the ds12's, could this maybe be something to do with a different feeling of expo? Thanks for any suggestions Jay |

Hello, 1. this problem is usually happening, when swashplate servos are not configured precisely in regard to centering. Please try to set the head according this guide: http://manual.spirit-system.com/index.p ... d_Geometry In less common cases it is due to a very bad CoG. It might be good to verify if it is off. 2. Very often it is helpful to change rudder servo arm. You can find if it is OK from rudder end-points. If you can provide the values for left and right sides or 4ds settings file I can let you know. It has big impact on rudder performance overal. It is very important to make sure that mechanics is moving really smooth with zero friction. The most new kits require a ball reamer otherwise it can take months or years to wear the ball linkages. 3. This can be result of some wrong settings. For example if you will set too high Rotation rate in the Sensor tab while your Cyclic Ring limit is too low. Then model is not able to mechanically achieve required rotation fast enough. There are parameters such as Rotation Rate, Flight Style and Cyclic Feed Forward that can make behavior a lot different. In default settings behavior should be much more linear than with VBar. Spirit is not using any Expo, while VBar has default around 25 and even around 50% for tail. |

Thanks for the reply, After reading your reply i decided to wipe the spirit back to factory settings and start again. The piro compensation is much better, i must have changed a setting in the fbl that made it worse as you suggested. As the the more linier feel, i honestly cant feel and difference, but then again i couldn't before. So that just leaves the loose tail, which is still the same, im getting a head wobble during tic tocs which im guessing now is because the tail isnt holding well, ive played with the head gains and its not done anything for the wobble. Im pretty sure it has too be something mechanical now as i have a black nitro with the same settings but a rock solid tail. I will try and get the tail slider really really smooth and go from there. Thanks Jay |
