Hi there,
A friend of mine has crashed his Trex550x today which was flying with a spirit rs and jeti transmitter.
The heli lost control and did not go into failsafe state, continued to fly with motor power, and crashed.
What can cause this? Jeti transmitter connects very quick when it's turned on, and distance was not so much to lose control.
The only thing which is important in the logs was receiver signal lost line.
When it lost signal shouldn't it go for failsafe ? I did set failsafe up by myself from pc software and tested at ground while setting up the heli. The heli has been flying flawless for a long time by the way.

Thanks.

Hi,

i could see 2 things important to find reasons:

1. photo(s) of antenna positioning on the heli... as you say: not easy to loose signal with Jeti on a heli... maybe someone can see a source for the problem.
2. logs of both - Jeti Tx and Spirit - to hopefully see any hint for the problem...

Hi,

that is very sad. Could you please send a photos of the antenna mounting?
In some cases antennas are mounted by pilots to the extent it will damage them right at the enclosure edges.

Another reason could be if pilot connected something at the E2 port. Could this be the case?

Hi Michael,

thank you for suggestions, spirit log is unfortunately unavailable, my friend checked logs but did not save spirit log, so it shows good health messages now. Bu Jeti Tx logs shows clear. I could not find something useful. I asked for pics, by the way.

Hi Tomas,
I asked for pics, but it's very new unit, I don't think that it's got damaged by edges,
I plugged in the cables as per manual,
This incident occured after a couple of successfull flights at that day. Before that, the heli was flying properly. Would plugging somthing to E2 port cause loss of control instantly or eventually?

Thanks

Hi,

the issue with antennas could develop during flying because vibrating antennas can be cut after a while with enclosure edges.
So any sharp angle is wrong.

Connecting anything to E2 could cause issue instantly but also after some time, it depends on what is connected.
Some people are connecting there telemetry sensors before reading manual. Everything can work until loss of control during flight will happen as the telemetry data can be more frequent when flying.

If there is no error in logs, then I am afraid it could be caused by engaging Rescue mode or by failing servo. This can also cause movements similar to pitch changes. Can you verify channel values in JETI log?

If no problem will be found the best will be to start the motor without blades and observe what will happen with servos.
