Post subject:  Bailout and tail

Hi,

So I've set-up bail out and it all seems to be working ok with bank switching with a dx9. The problem I have:

a) If my gyro channel is set to a positive number the tail works great, but the bank switching doesn't work.
b) If my gyro channel is set to negative the bank switching works, but the tail will hardly move with user input.

Does this mean I have to have my bail out switch change the gyro to negative and switch the bank at the same time? I'm confused...

Thanks

What Tx/Rx are you using?

Your tail gain is set by channel 5 and banks set by channel 7 if you are using a single line input.

The Channel 5 positive value will be your tail gain.

The Channel 5 negative value will activate Rescue/Stabilization and the value that it is negative is your tail gain during this mode.

Channel 7 is your banks and has nothing to do with channel 5.

If you are using a PWM rx, you must use channel 5 only as your bank switch and set your gains in the software. Or, use tail gain as channel 5 and not use bank switching.

Hi, I'm using a Spektrum DX9 and two dsmX Sats.

The gyro channel is correct and the bank switching works, both show perfectly in the diagnostic tab..

However when the gyro channel is @ say +70% the tail works perfectly but the bailout will not activate (switching banks does nothing, but it still works in the software)

When the gyro is negative say -70% the tail is unresponsive but the bailout feature will activate when I switch banks.

I read on this forum that you need negative gyro gain for the bailout to work, which from my settings seems to be true, but how can i maintain tail control...

Please check your Gyro gain in the diagnostics tab while it is in negative position.
It should be approximately same for both positive and negative.

Is the Bailout configured/enabled for each bank in the software?

Gyro on diagnostic page:

-70% on tx = 70% N in software
+70% on tx = 70% HL in software

Stabilization is configured for bank 1
Acro-Bailout is configured for bank 2

The tail is not supposed to be controlled during rescue. The FBL will stabilize the tail and give you limited control, but, during rescue when not in the air you won't be able to have full throw limits. this is completely normal.

So, then you have to switch the Gyro-Gain and the bank at the same time.

If you can see N in the diagnostics tab, it means that your tail is in Normal mode, not Heading Hold.
You should see always HL or HL+F (F means that configured function was activated).

Probably, at the moment your Bank is 0 and there is nothing assigned (Function is Disabled).
In this case you will get Normal gyro mode, so you should assign some function to Bank 0 too.

If you want Rescue to be activated during the flight, your current Bank must be programmed with Function: Rescue.

If you want to switch between conventional flight, stabilisation and rescue (with only one switch on your TX), you can do so with unassigned Gyro channel, so you can configure Gyro Gain (in the software - Sensor Tab) to negative positions for Bank 1 and 2, but for Bank 0 it will be positive.
So activation will be performed with Bank switching only, but Gyro Gain will be configured in the software.

That's the answer I was looking for! Thank you
