Considering adding Geolink to my six helis running Spirit, Spirit Pro, Spirit 2

Would likely use these features:
  • "Altitude Limit" (hard deck)
  • "Return to Home"
  • And maybe "Geo-fence" or "Position Hold"

TX is a Spektrum DX8 G2. Only have one or maybe two channels available. Can this be done or would I need to upgrade to a TX with more channels?

In Spirit online wiki manual, it says, "You can use same channel for multiple features at the same time," but doesn't go on to say how you would set that up.

A Spirit with rescue can we done with 6 channels. This is without banks. So you can add 2 GeoLink functions like "Altitude Limit" (hard deck) and "Return to Home". In my opinion these are the most important functions of the GeoLink. However, not using banks also means huge limitations for using different flight stabilization modes. I´d recommend a 12, better a 16 channel transmitter.

Best Regards,
Eugen

Depends how you want to map them to you tx, for example you could use a 3 position switch on one channel, where centre position is no action, up is return to home and down is hard deck

Thanks for your reply Aquaaddict. This is what I was looking for, but I don't see how you would set it up.

I DO see that you can assign multiple functions to a single channel as long as you want them to be active or inactive at the same time, for example, you could assign Altitude Limit and Geo-fence to a single channel, and then you could map it to a switch: ON = both features active; OFF = both features not active.

I DON'T see (from your example) how you would set up a 3-position switch on one channel, where center position is no action, up is return to home and down is hard deck.

On the Receiver channel mapping screen, I can assign both Return to Home and Altitude Limit to for example Channel 7, but then how would I tell it that switch position Up should be Hard Deck, position Down should be RTH?

EDIT: On the Channel mapping screen, below the line where you assign the Function to the Channel, it shows "State: Off". Do you somehow change the State to reflect the switch position that you want to use to activate the function?

Thanks,

Don
