Post subject:  Spirit Pro Initialization Issue

Good morning,
I have an issue with my Spirit Pro for which I have found no solution by searching the forum.
When the Spirit initializes the swashplate will „jump“ as usual but then in stead of being level after the initialization the swashplate tilts (full nick UP and roll LEFT). When I then disconnect the battery and reconnect the Spirit will initialize again and then the swashplate will stand perfectly level when initialized.
It normally happens when I power up my heli after it has been without power for some time.
This means that it happens normally when I power up for the first time. if I do several flights it usually does not happen again unless I make a break in between.
I have obviously never flown with with the tilted swashplate but when the Spirit is re-initialized it works perfectly fine and I have never had any issues in flight. Also rescue is working fine.
The behaviour is quite consistent and will happen on most flying days.
The log says „Cyclic Ring activated“ when it happens and after re-initialization the log is clean.
I use a Jeti RSat 2 receiver and have no other sensors installed.
I have a Hobbywing Platinum 100A V3 ESC with Fan but disconnecting the fan does not appear to do any difference.
Vibration levels are generally low, but as said the problem only happens at power up where the motor is not turning.

Any suggestions?

Klaus

Hello,

this is very interesting issue.
Such issues are usually related to BEC and the voltage rampup.
When voltage is settled slowly servos are not liking it at all.

If you have some kind of a buffer pack or capacitor, could you try to disconnect it for a try?

Thanks for the quick feedback!
I do not use any external buffers/capacitors, so nothing to disconnect unfortunately.
Although I'm not an electronics expert I assume that the ESC internal BEC has capacitors as well. If they charge too slow it could explain why it only happens at the first power up. At the subsequent power up they would be (at least partially) charged already, provided they are not discharged immediately when power is disconnected.

I have now tried to power the Spirit from different sources, including also a regular RX 4.8V NiMH receiver Battery pack.
The swash plate still tilts occasionally upon initialization. As it does not happen every time it is hard to say if there is any improvement but the problem is still there - at least to some extent.
Any other suggestions?

Are you sure it can't be some problem with servo?
If always one servo is doing this, can you swap cables of the servos?

I am not sure that it is not a servo issue but all 3 servos move, hence swapping will probably not help.

Servos are KST DS589MG HV by the way

Thanks a lot.

It look like some channel is not centered properly.
I believe you will see this also in the Diagnostic tab.

Can you confirm that you have default channel mapping in the Spirit unit?
The best would be to share your settings file.
