Hi all,
I've a problem with a Spirit Pro. A few months ago I was flying my Goblin 770 and all off a sudden during a circuit the helicopter rolled inverted and I couldn't level it. Tbh in the panic I didn't even attempt rescue. I checked all the mechanics of the heli but could find nothing wrong aside from the obvious damage. Canopy, boom, blades, links, belt, shafts, skids and all the usual.
I fixed the heli and was very cautious of flying it again but as I couldn't find anything else wrong I fixed it up and flew it again. After maybe 10 - 15 flights I was flying at our site and half way through a flight the heli rolled 180º and wouldn't roll back. I was over the grass at only 10-20 feet and rather than risk going over the tarmac I went into throttle hold and went into the grass inverted. Again, canopy, blades etc but not nearly as bad due to the low height and early throttle hold.
Because I hadn't any errors in the logs I decided to swap the Spirit Pro from my Goblin 770 and put it on my Tarot 550 Pro that had a Spirit 2 on it. I've flown the Tarot with the Spirit Pro on it now for several weeks and had zero issues in about 10-20 flights again. Tonight I was flying the Tarot when it began to roll inverted. This time I used Rescue which although it was adding pitch as designed it was bringing the heli the right way up again. All I could do was keep flicking the Rescue switch which is spring loaded on my Jeti to keep it the upright while using negative pitch to get it to an altitude where I could attempt to land. I was able to get the heli down to around 10ft and then clicked throttle hold and used the Rescue switch to keep me upright. Thankfully very little damage as it landed on short grass.
Basically I've had the same issue now three times in two machines which have totally different servos, ESCs and motors. The Spirit Pro had/has the latest software installed every time I've had an issue. I can't keep up with the crash costs so I'm hoping someone can point me in the direction I need to take.
Thanks
Stevie
This is the way the first crash landed.
