I've seen comments that say set the collective pitch in rescue to 100% so it will work faster. Is this correct or does the pitch setting only affect how fast it climbs after it levels? For instance, if I set pitch to 55% will it level just as fast and then hover? I don't want to slow the recovery but I don't think it needs to climb much.

It is true, that more collective can rescue the helicopter with greater chance if you can fly in low altitude. If your helicopter is moving to the ground, higher collective will stop the movement faster (and then will climb faster).

I think what he is asking is, does the collective setting change the rate that the heli will get to level.
So if the heli is knife edge and then he hits rescue at 60% will it get to level (flat) at the same speed as 100%? Or will the rate that the heli will turn to get flat also be less?
I am not 100% sure but I believe the rate that it uses to get level is determined by your cyclic ring limits, not by the collective. The collective is just how much is applied after level.

Yes, that is true.

Thanks that answers my questions. It works as I thought it should. But I hadn't considered that more collective is helpful if the heli is diving fast. It takes a lot to stop that downward momentum.
