I need advice about banks. I need them because I want to have different gains for different head speeds.

I did configure channel 7 and bank switching is working. I made it so it switches together with flight mode in my radio. In addition, I force bank #0 (my lowest RPM bank) anytime Throttle Hold is on.
Is this the best way to use banks?

I'm using OpenTx integration. And it seems that now, if I want to change some settings after landing, I need to go the the last page of the OpenTx script, then select the right bank, then go back and do the changes. It feels weird, so I wonder if this is the right way or maybe I am doing it some weird way?

Also, I noticed the Spirit remembers the bank selection made over the script. So which bank will be used now if I take off - the one which I set with the script, or the one selected with the switch / channel 7?

Your understanding of how to use banks is the same as mine. I believe your method should work.

After exiting integration, control of banks should go back to the transmitter channel, not what was previously selected in integration.

There is an alternative method that I use for different gains and such on different head speeds, and there’s no need to mess with Spirit banks or even integration. What you can do is set a channel for whatever gain you want like cyclic or Piro consistency (look at the channel choices that stat with “P”) , then use both the Flight Modes with OpenTX and the Global Variables. Each flight mode in OpenTX stores it’s own instance of global variables. So what I do is have a GV for cyclic gain. When I flick my head speed switch on my transmitter, my Horus changes the flight mode I’m in and therefore chooses the cyclic gain value I set.

It gets better. With special functions you can use a button on your transmitter like those useless trim buttons to change in real time the global variables. So while flying I can increase the gain and it’s done. I never have to land to adjust it. No integration necessary. Then I change head speed and tune again for that head speed. No landing necessary.

If you’re interested in details I can post instructions in a different thread. On my transmitter I even have it speak the actual gain value as I change it. The downside is that these settings are stored on the transmitter instead of the FBL unit.

That's how I would expect it to work, but I'm not sure if it does this way. This id because if I select - for example - bank #2, and then exit the script, and then run the script again, bank #2 is still selected. Even if channel #7 wants bank #0.

Yeah, that's some idea. But somehow I don't like these special functions. For changing something in flight they are maybe great, but if you want to tune the heli to the right settings, then 3 functions is not enough. And in addition you never know how they are set. I mean, you tweaked cyclic gain for example, you land, and you would like to fix the cyclic gain in the FBL now, so the special function can be used for something else. But how do you know the cyclic gain value which you found to work well in flight? The last thing I'd like is to bring a laptop with me to check this...

I made sure that the global variable value is exactly the same as the actual value shown in the channel screen. So if my global value is 70, the spirit setting is 70. That part took the longest to figure out, but it’s doable.
